Default vsmon.exe has generated errors pop-up followed by DrWatson Fatal Error at Zone start-up

I just upgraded to Zone Security Suite Version 8
(80_059_000) with my OS on XP Home Edition SP3.
The install works fine but when zone starts, I receive a Program Error pop-up that states:

"vsmon.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows.
You will need to restart the program."
This pop-up is followed by a DrWatson Fatal Error pop-up stating:

"Dr. Watson was unable to attach to the process. It is possble that process exited before Dr. Watson could attach to it.
Windows returned error code = -2147024891

    Access denied"
The pop-ups re-appear within a few seconds of [Cancel] on the program error and [OK] on the DrWatson error.
Also, when I hold the cursor over the Z in the task bar, it shows "Protection is up, UI is initializing"..Zone has been removed and reinstalled several times in both normal start-up and in safe mode using the program uninstall and the manual method (as seen in many posts)..Of additional note, Zone starts successfully in Safe Mode..Any ideas on what is happening or what I should try next to get Zone to work under a normal start-up
(the start at start-up option has been ed-selected)????

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Software Version:8.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

    <hr></blockquote>Zxytest,
Giving as much detail as possible, have you reported this to technical support?
https://www.zonealarm.com/store/cont...ch_support.jspIf you are not already aware, it is recommended to use internet explorer browser when submitting form to technical support; and you should get an email acknowledgement with a case number back fairly quickly - if this doesn't happen then it did not get properly submitted to technical or it ended up in your spam filter file.
If you do submit your problem to technical, please post back any response and help other users in this forum who share the same problem and are seeking a solution.

    UPDATE: Zone
    Tech supports
initial response was to perform a 'reset' on Zone
(Hold down Ctrl &amp; Shift keys, right click on the 'Z' in the task bar and select the reset option).
    I
believe this reloads all default settings.

For my problem, I couldn't even get the menu to appear that contains the reset option. I suspect it has to do with the vsmon.exe process keeps re-initing after acknowledgement of the Dr. Watson Fatal Error.
I restarted the computer in Safe mode with Networking and started Zone successfully there.

I was able to perform the reset .
However, that had no impact when I rebooted back to normal mode.
The same two error pop-ups (Program Error and DR Watson Fatal Error) windows appeared within a few seconds of starting Zone.
This info along with the tvDebug.log file has been emailed back to Zone Tech Support.

Rather then run zoneless, I even tried uninstalling Zone version 8 and re-installing the last version 7 files I have stored in a downloads folder.
Version 7 wouldn t install do to some error related to a klif file (at ~53% of the install) the same error that took a several install attempts over as many days to get past it when it was initially installed.

Yes I did perform the manual removal steps.
I've done that manual uninstall/removal steps so many times this past week that I just about have the steps memorized.
I first learned of the manual removal steps with the installation of
    version 70_470.
That install was constantly failing around 53% into the install (right around the
    klif cabinet).
It eventually passed that point and completed the installation.

Whether it was coincidental or not, that version was the first major Zone upgrade I performed after installing XP SP2.

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>Due to a MicroSoft Update Bug issued July 8, 2008 after SP2.., All versions of ZA 7.0 before ZA version 7.0.483.000 will fail, the Fix for the problem is to uninstall all versions of ZA previous to vers 7.0.483.000The simplest procedure is to:1.Download the Latestinstallerpreferably with IE Browwserand no Download Manager/accelerator like Get-Right, Livewire) ZAFree http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/fre...seHistory.htmlZAP http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.html ZAAV http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.htmlZAAS http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.htmlZASS http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.html2. On your current ZA, UNcheck "Load ZA... at startup" (under Overview --&gt; Preferences tab)3. Reboot the Computer. So that vsmon.exe/TrueVector will be removed from Memory4. Install the new update (clean or upgrade) and Accept the default Setting, Auto-Learn Mode and Choose Trusted Zone, not Internet Zone..Please note that ZASS does not play nice with many overlapping security tools (even if disabled). To troubleshoot ZASS issues remove them and install back once you see that ZA works as it should. For example,Norton/Symantec, mcAfee, spyspweeper, spyware doctor, trojan hunter, adware, SpyBotS&amp;D, PC tools Threatfire, otherantivirus, antispyware, registry locking tools, etc...--------------------------------------------------------
