Default Zone Alarm 8.0 Update problem

    Info:
    Computer
    - Dell Deminsion 4300SOperating System - WinXP Home Edition 2002 Service Pack 3RAM - 384 MB
I recently updated my last version of ZoneAlarm Free
up to 8.0. Everything seemed fine until I rebooted my computer. ZoneAlarm Free
    comes up quickly, but when
    I hover
over the "Z" in the tray,
I get the message "Protection is up, UI is initializing..." It never initializes. It was freezing up my computer until I bought more
    RAM, but the ZA
    problem continues.
The only thing I did differently with this update was
change the name in the registration from my mother's to mine.
I also tried to do a system restore before I added RAM, but under those circumstances, ZA initialization notification
never shows up, and clicking on the program in the start menu has no result.
    Any suggestions?
Do you need any more information?
    Thanks for your time.

Also, the Zonealarm initialization window constantly shows up, over and over again, only to immediately dissapear without any progress.

    I haven't but I will.
The problem did become worse though.
    The only way I
was able to get here was by deleting ZA 8.0.065.00 via Add/Remove programs. When I was trying to check for more problems, I had been running another program (CCleaner) to check for registry errors. Soon after cleaning up the registry, my HD space began to plummet from 4.5 GB to a 102 MB.
    The only
thing I did differently was save 2 images that were
    around 300kb total. I've run
    up to
date Antivirus, and I have found no virus problems, Do you
have any idea why this is happening, and how I can get my memory back?

I actually managed to fix the problem by uninstalling ZA
via the Add/Remove programs option in Windows, but when I tried to run the program you provided in the link I get the message "Internet Acesss Monitor has encountered a problem and needs to close." Can I reinstall ZA Free by using the Add/Remove programs option, or is this program the ONLY way to get Zone Alarm up and running correctly again?
    Thanks for your time.

Hi!first you should remove any ZA left over booting your PC in SAFE MODE, this way:01.) Restart your computer
02.) When you see the screen go black and it starts booting back up keep
tapping the "F8" key (at the top of your keyboard)
03.) This should bring up a menu. Choose Safe Mode off the menu by
using the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Safe Mode and press
    Enter
04.) If you get a message asking to go to Safe Mode, choose Yes. If you
get a help and support window, close this.
05.) Once you are at the desktop, Click Start, My Computer
06.) Click Tools, Folder Options, View Tab
07.) Place a dot next to "Show Hidden Files and Folders"
08.) Remove the check from "Hide Protected Operating System Files
    (Recommended)"
09.) Choose Yes to the warning
    10.) Click OK
    11.) Double click C:

Note: In the future steps if you do not see any files or folders, please click
the "Show Files" link to view them.

12.) Double Click the Program Files Folder
13.) Right Click the Zone Labs Folder, click Delete, and choose Yes

NOTE: If you cannot delete the entire folder, please open the Zone Labs -
    > ZoneAlarm folder and delete out as many of the files listed here as
    possible.

    14.) Close this window
    15.) Click Start, My Computer
    16.) Double Click the C:
17.) Double Click the Windows Folder (It may also be WinNT)
18.) Right Click the Internet Logs Folder, click Delete, and choose Yes
19.) Double Click the System32 Folder
20.) Right Click the Zone Labs Folder, click Delete, and choose Yes

NOTE: If you cannot delete the entire folder, please open the Zone Labs

I finally got the chance to do the steps in the last post and the worked! Thanks for all of your help. God bless you.
One more question: In my Add/Remove Programs list, ZA Spy blocker is listed.
    It was
    from the
    first time I had ZA.
After doing the steps in the last post, I can't get it off of my programs list. When I try to remove it, I get an error message that says that the "Specific module can't be found". Should I worry about this? I have a program called Ccleaner that clears up registry issues, should I just go ahead and use that?
Thanks again for all of your help.
