I am trying to fully uninstall ZASS before installing ZAX.
I uninstalled it with the /clean /rmlicense options, and now I'm trying to use the new "Zonealarm Removal Tool" to clear everything out.
When I run the ZA Removal tool (cpes_clean.exe), however, I get a windows error message saying that "Internet Access Monitor" encountered
errors and must close.
The event view then shows errors relating to cpes_clean.exe.
I tried re-downloading the tool but the same thing happens.
Am I using this incorrectly -- i.e. was I supposed to run this file BEFORE uninstalling ZASS, and if so, is this error normal?
Does this removal tool work on XP SP2 -- does it perhaps need XP SP3?
Now that I'm in this situation (where I can't run this tool without the error)
can I just follow
my previous uninstall
instructions, which say to do a search for the following files and
delete them:
Zonelabs; "zone labs"; "Internet logs"; vsconfig.xml; vsdata.dll; vsdata95.vxd; vsdatant.sys; vsmon.*; vsmonapi.dll; vsnetutils.dll;vspubapi.dll; zaplus.*; zapro.*; **bleep**.dat; zlparser.dll; zonealarm.exe; zoneband.dll; vsutil.dll; zlclient.*
and then to create a zabegone.reg file with the following text and double click it:
REGEDIT4
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ZAMailSafe]
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Zone Labs]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Zone Labs]
[-HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Zone Labs]

Will this be a sufficient uninstall process?
Thanks,
Larry
