    Default Antivirus download quits for both 8.0.298.0 (XP Pro 32bit) and 8.0.298.035(Vista 64bit)

    I have tried downloading the latest antivirus for the last two days. I am on dial up and the download quits at 19, 20 and 21MB on both my Windows XP Pro 32bit machine running ZAISS 8.0.298.0 and on the Vista Home Premium 64bit-ZAISS 8.0.298.035. It is advancing smoothly for about 1 hour 45minutes then green progress
    indicator just disappears and no more packets are received. Their is no indication that anything happened except for the
    cessation of the download
    and I can
    get my
    email or start a browser without dialing in again.The Overview tells me that all is okay with ZAISS. On the XP machine, I
    got the sypware download .5665 but can get nothing on the Vista machine after the download fails.It is not my dial-up timing out because I downloaded and installed the 59MB version of ZAISS 8.0.298.035. I tried reinstalling 8.0.298.035 on the Vista machine, it installed correctly
    but it made no difference. Any suggestions except blaming the dial-up :8}gratefully accepted.

    Hi!not sure you can do something about the downloading, probably your dial-up is too slow and connection is dropped.The first time you download antivirus signature you can download up to 50 MB of data...And there is no way to download the signature somewhere else and then install offline.You probably need to find a security package lighther in terms of MB needed by the AV.Cheers,Fax

    Hi,
    thanks for you quick response but I don't think the problem is with dial-up. This is the first time I have had any problem with antivirus downloads no matter the MBs. I have downloaded utilities and updates of over 100+MB overnight without the connection being dropped. Why this antivirus update a problem on two OS's, two different computers and two different versions of ZAISS. I have been using ZA for years which is why I waited for the 64bit version and purchased it instead fo Kapersky or some other. I know dial-up seems to be the most obvious answer
    but I am sure someone knows another reason. I still have over 300 days left on each version and I like ZA and do not wish to install McAfee or something else.What is going on with CheckPoint when the only support one can get is Self Help or the Forum? Otherwise, $49.95USD to talk to someone. C'mon. Looks like here is one customer who may not be renewing or suggesting ZAISS to others. X-(. Any other ideas? Anyone?

    Hi George, you are right. I did manage to track down Live Chat and was forwarded to an email version of Customer Support and it is in their hands
    now. Thanks. Here is the ZAISS settings where I have been having this problem.

    Hi, I have the 64bit Vista Home Premium download working now. ZA Support is backed up into last week and I have not received a response to date. I disengaged my automatic anti-virus download and set it for manual. I then got my antiSpyware updated to 01.200904.5685 which was large for dial up. Then I tried the anti-virus download and it worked fine completing at just over 4MB where originally it was trying to download 19+MBs and was updated to 981998317. This morning, both the anti-virus and antiSpyware worked great, as usual. However, I tried to update the anti-virus on the Windows XP Pro machine and it tried the large download and stopped at 15+MBs, same as before. So, now I am awaiting ZA Support for the XP machine. I will post the Support fix when received.

    Hi, further to what I added previously, I enabled the automatic anti-virus update again
    and the
    ZAISS went screwy, it downloaded the latest Spyware update and would not close down. I retried several times and it would not search for any updates. I, then,
    unenabled the automatic anti-virus update and everything worked fine again. So,
    I guess I will just click the update manually each day. That's my story...

    Hi George, here is the 64 bit fix that the ZA techs sent me. I did not
    use it because as long as I get my updates manually, I have no problem and it seems that if I were to follow their advice, I would need to renew a lot of previous updates and as I am on dial up...Here is their advice. Hope it helps someone else--
    Please perform the following instructions to resolve this issue.

    01.) Shutdown ZoneAlarm by right clicking the ZA icon near the clock and choosing shut down.
    02.) Click Start.
    03.) Choose Run.

    NOTE: If you do not have the Run option on the Start menu, you can press and hold the Windows logo key and tap the letter R .

    04.) Type SysWOW64 and click OK.
    05.) Double Click the ZoneLabs Folder.
    06.) Double Click the Updates Folder.
    07.) Delete all files in this folder.
    08.) Restart your system and try the updates again.

    If you are unable to delete the files, boot into safe mode and delete the files. I provided information below to boot into safe mode.

    01.) Restart your computer.
    02.) When you see the screen go black and it starts booting back up keep tapping the "F8" key (at the top of your keyboard).
    03.) This should bring up a menu. Choose Safe Mode off the menu by using the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Safe Mode and press Enter.
    04.) If you get a message asking to go to Safe Mode, choose Yes. If you get a help and support window, close this.
    05.) Delete the files as detailed above.
