Default Well it was time renew my subscription for ZA SS and I we...

Well it was time renew my subscription for ZA SS and I went ahead and upgraded to ZA Extreme Security. The upgrade didn't go well. I had crash after crash and my system hung when trying to shut down. I finally gave up and completely removed ZA and then did a clean install. All is happy now! I also used PC Tune-Up so perhaps this was part of the problem but it was amazing how many problems the report showed. I ran PC Tune-Up again after doing the clean install and everything is happy. Funny thing, I don't have any of these kinds of problems on my Mac. I rarely use the PC but my wife uses it frequently. Hey, maybe that's the problem!

Operating System:Windows XP Pro

Doug,Did you have any problems accessing the ZA web pages to do the downloads?
I can get to them and my system is way out of date. I keep talking to the ZA folks and they give me all kinds of reasons that it is my fault.
I have checked everything - even talked to my cable provider since I have a cable modem. They said everything was working OK.
I can't figure it out.
It appears like a broken link.
I bought ForceField with download capability and I can't even download directly from the website.
Very frustrating!
Any suggestions?jw

jw,
I had no problems and I'm not a ZA guru so I don't know what to suggest. I'm sure someone on this forum will have a solution for you.

Thanks, Doug.
I just learned from a computer tech friend that there are spyware programs that will block any site but theirs. I may have gotten hold of one of those.
I have been trying to download other free programs to resolve this problem and am having the same issues.
Guess I may have to take it in to the shop.Thanks for responding.

NOTE: the steps below works only if you are on the latest versions of ZA (7.0.470.000 or later). If you are not, please update.
Try to perform a full Antivirus/Antispyware scan but in SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING.

1. Disable system restore;2. Set ZA antispyware to "Deep inspection scan" under the advanced options on ZA antivirus/antispyware tab (detection);
3. Reboot in SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING;
4. Manual run ZASS (ZA firewall will be OFF but Antivirus/Antispyware will be functional);
5. Run a full ZA AV/AS scan;
5. Reboot in Normal Mode
6. Set ZA antispyware back to recommended settings ("Intelligent quick scan")7. Ensable System restore

Thanks for the info, George.
My notes say that my version is 7.0.462.000, but with the problem I am having, I cannot access the website to do the update. I'll give it a try, though.
Any further suggestions are very welcome.

1.Download the Latestinstallerpreferably with IE Browserand no Download Manager/accelerator like Get-Right, Livewire,BitTorrent) (MultiPlatform,installer will install on Both WinXP and Vista)ZAFree http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/fre...seHistory.htmlZAP http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.htmlZAAV http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.htmlZASS http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.html2. On your current ZA, UNcheck "Load ZA... at startup" (under Overview --> Preferences tab)3. Reboot the Computer. So that vsmon.exe/TrueVector will be removed from Memory4.) Now use the new ZoneAlarm Removal Tool: Click here > http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cpes_clean.exeSave to desktop, right click and "run as administrator"This tool will remove all ZoneAlarm products from your system.

Please just download and run the tool, following the instructions.
(you can un-install without net connections)5.) Install the new update (clean or upgrade) and Accept the default Setting, Auto-Learn Mode and Choose Trusted Zone, not Internet Zone..NOTICE:Please note that ZASS and ZAXdo not play nice with many overlapping security tools (even if disabled). To troubleshoot ZASS/ZAX issues removethe other Security programsand install them back once you see that ZA works as it should. For example,Norton/Symantec, McAfee,AVG, Spyspweeper, Spyware Doctor, trojan hunter, adware, SpyBotS&D, PC tools Threat Fire, any otherAnti-virus, Anti-spyware, Registry Guard or locking tools, etc...
