Thread: Safe to upgrade to ZASS 8?

Default Safe to upgrade to ZASS 8?

I have ZASS 7.0.483.

Several months ago, I upgraded ZASS to version 8. It slowed my system to a crawl, and I followed the recomendations here to revert to 7.0.483.

Have the problems in version 8 been fixed yet? I don't know whether it's safe to upgrade to 8, or if I should stay with 7.0.483.

Sorry, It is Sometimes very Difficult to Diagnose and fix a Computer from halfway across the Country,
without All the Details, without the ability to sit in front of your Computer monitor and see what's going on..
If you would Describe your Computer Setup/OS and Version of Zone Alarm that you are having a problem with
and what difficulty you are having, and what Previous Version of ZA and Norton, McAfee or other Security programs that you have installed,
there are several knowledgeable Volunteer Participants willing to help you try solving your problem with Zone Alarm..Please provide as much detail and error messages etc. that you see on your ComputerMonitor. Sorry I didn't include my current system config. Here it is:

3GHz Pentium with 1GB of RAM
Cable modem connection to the internet.
Windows XP Home SP 3
ZAISS 7.0.483.000

Last time I upgraded to 8.xx, it slowed my system to a crawl, and I got errors in my web browser and when trying to send email, as described in my prior post:
http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/b...ssage.id=82559

From your reply, it appears that SP 3 is the key. Now that I have SP 3, it is safe for me to upgrade ZAISS to the current version of 8.xx.

To troubleshoot ZASS/ZAX issues removethe other Security programsand install them back once you see that ZA works as it should. 6.)- have you properly un-installed any previous firewall and/or anti-virus?? = this needs to be done - http://forums.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/...message.id=154. Most new pc/laptops come with pre-installed security software, which should be properly un-installed prior to installing any ZoneAlarm firewall product.
