Default ZA FREE TO ZA PRO

At present I am running ZA Free and I have been very happy with it, so much so, that I would like to upgrade to ZA Pro.

I have been searching the forum for information, maybe I've missed something but I cannot find a thread relating to this subject, and my question
is "After having bought ZA Pro, is it downloaded over the top of ZA Free, or does Free have to be uninstalled first"?

ZA is running on Vista Home Premium SP2, with Avast4.8 Pro, Malwarebytes and Superantispyware.

I look forward to any help you can provide me.

Best wishes,

GypsyDavey

Hi!the best is to remove ZAfree before installingZAPRO. Also shutdown all other tools before running the installer. All ZA products comes with 15 days trial, better to have a final trial before proceeding. You find the ZAPRO installer here:http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.htmlHope this helps.Cheers,Fax

Here is a Comparison Link to all the other versions of ZoneAlarm..http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en...e-software.htmHere is a Link to all the 15 day Trial versionsThe simplest procedure is to :1.Download the Latestinstallerpreferably with IE Browserand no Download Manager/accelerator like Get-Right, Livewire, BitTorrent) (MultiPlatform, installer will install on Both WinXP and Vista)ZAFree http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/fre...seHistory.htmlZAP http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.htmlZAAV http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.htmlZASS http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.htmlZAXShttp://download.zonelabs.com/bin/fre...seHistory.html2. On your current ZA, UNcheck "Load ZA... at startup" (under Overview --> Preferences tab)3. Reboot the Computer. So that vsmon.exe/TrueVector will be removed from Memory4.) Now use the new ZoneAlarm Removal Tool: Click here > http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cpes_clean.exeSave to desktop, right click and "run as administrator"This tool will remove all ZoneAlarm products from your system.

Please just download and run the tool, following the instructions.
(you can un-install without net connections)5.) Install the new update (clean or upgrade) and Accept the default Setting, Auto-Learn Mode and Choose Trusted Zone, not Internet Zone..

Many thanks to GeorgeV and fax for your answers to my question.

The only thing I'm still not sure about is whether I uninstall ZAFree first, before installing ZAPro which fax recommends, or install ZAPro first and then uninstall ZAFree which GeorgeV seems to recommend!

Also GeorgeV, there's an uninstall option within the Start Menu, is this in effect the same Removal Tool download you mention?

You'll both have to excuse my lack of computer know how, I'm abit tentative when it comes to installing/uninstalling security programs. Prior to installing ZAFree, I had a bad experience with an Avira Security Suite, I'd hate to end up in the position of losing ZAFree and not being able to download ZAPro!

But I'm sure that thanks to you both I'll eventually sort it out.

Kind regards,
GypsyDavey

Thank you for your Feedback..Sorry that you mis-understood my instruction. If you re-read them..I recommend that You first Download a Good copy of the Version of ZoneAlarm that you want to Trial and save it to your Hard drive, Before you "Un-Check Load ZoneAlarm on Startup" and Uninstall ZoneAlarm..The Last part of my Instructions was then to Install the New Version that you have Downloaded..and as Guru Fax advised.. It is Better that you make Sure that NO OTHER Security programare running, as it may Block or Conflict with the Install of the New ZoneAlarm..NOTICE:Please note that ZASS and ZAXSdo not play nice with many overlapping security tools (even if disabled). To troubleshoot ZASS/ZAXS issues removethe other Security programsand install them back once you see that ZA works as it should. For example,Norton/Symantec, McAfee,AVG, Spyspweeper, Spyware Doctor, trojan hunter, adware, SpyBotS&D, PC tools Threat Fire, any otherAnti-virus, Anti-spyware, Registry Guard or locking tools, etc...Just One, Not Two -- Never use two software Firewalls at the same time.
Just One, Not Two -- Never use two Anti-virus products at the same time.

Is that Better.. ?

Reading through Help Menu prior to downloading ZAPro,it seemed to indicate that ZAPro scans for virus'.
I was under the impression that this program did not have an antivirus feature within it.

As I've already indicated,I have Avast4.8 Pro antivirus already running on system and I don't want them
conflicting with each other.

Would appreciate your thoughts on this matter,as I'd still like to install ZAPro,but not at the expense
of removing **bleep**.

Thanks again,and Best wishes.

Many, many thanks for your help and patience. I'm a bit of an "oldtimer" and I suffer from a lack of confidence with computers!

Anyhow, you'll be pleased to know that I went ahead with installing ZAPro and everything is running fine!

Once again,thanks alot!

Best wishes,
