Default Incomplete boot after ZA Free update

I've been using the free version of the firewall on my laptop without any problems.
I use **bleep** for virus/spyware protection,
    XP Home, SP3.
When I installed the last update, my computer ground to a halt.
It would boot most of the way until it got to the taskbar, then it would hang.
The only way to boot up was to boot in safe mode and uninstall ZA there.
I went through complete uninstall, re-downloaded, used the uninstall link provided here in the forum, installed in safe mode, but nothing worked.
    I tried unchecking all
    **bleep** services/startup, redid the install,
and the computer booted but ZA wouldn't open.
    Computer then
    hung
    on shutdown.

    On another trial, I was
able to shut down only after ending 2
    ZA processes through task manager.
    I don't have the
name of processes, as I gave up after several hours of frustration.
    The names were
    unusual - all caps
    but
    included usual
    Z.

I have no new software or hardware, updated only **bleep** and XP, ran defrag and RegMechanic cleanup.
Does the ZA update refuse to play with **bleep**?
I uninstalled AVG AntiSpyware and am not running any other security software.
    Thanks.

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)

Here is a Forum link example I found using the RED Search Box at the Top Left of the Forum..
    http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/b...&jump=true
2.) it looks like you either have a Bad/Corrupted Install of ZAFree, or other Security Programs installed that may be conflicting with ZAFree..
Here is another Example from the Forum..

    I hope this helps you..

    Please give me some credit.
I may be a new poster, but I'm not green.
    I
searched the forum and have been there - done that. I included in my post that I used the recommended removal process and tool, and have been
    running ZA
just fine prior to this upgrade.
    (for years with regular updates)
The same is true for **bleep**.
I do not use any other firewall, and I got rid of my old AVG spyware in case that was causing a new conflict.
Maybe I wasn't clear, but I already went to the 2nd link and did those things, including using the recommended removal tool.
Although I can't open ZA, because I can't even completely boot, on the last several attempts to load and boot, I made sure that the old vsmon, or anything else I could
    ID as a ZA file
was not running in the background and gone into services, disabling the BD - related ones prior to the last couple of ZA attempts.
The 1st screen says ZA versions 7.0 and 8.0 conflict with some antivirus products.
I have been running 7.0 with **bleep** all along.
    I included
in my post that I completely disabled BD and reinstalled
    ZA in safe mode.

The only thing I haven't done is completely uninstall BD, because the reregistration with that company can be a glitchy pain, and as I said in the original post, I've installed no new hardware or software.
I searched here and elsewhere online for any conflicts between 8.0 and BD.
So having done all that I thought I'd check the forum to see if there's a new conflict that's popped up.

Please note that ZA does not play nice with many overlapping security tools (even if disabled). To troubleshoot ZA issues remove them and install back once you see that ZA works as it should.

" other antivirus, antispyware, registry locking tools, etc..." will conflict / clash with installation.

If to much of a pain look here also at this link :

I have no other suggestion other than this to resolve your issue.

ZoneAlarm staff does not monitor this board. We are all users here.

    Good Luck
