Hoov, thank you for responding.I should start by saying I may not be using the right terminology. The log viewer shows a source IP and a destination IP with the TCP port for each. The source IP #sare all over the place, 1.66.207.87 on one end to 229.173.2.24 with the TCP port #s from 90 to 63358. The destination side seems to be a tighter range with IPs first three #s from 221 to 235 but the TCP ports are still a wide range from 728 to 65388.

This activity is happening by itself. I am not requesting anything from the web, I dont even have to have my browser open for this to happen. The activity lights on my modem and router will flash even if I,m not logged on to a user after a fresh boot.

I have checked for trojans, virus's, spyware, etc. with nothing detected.

From someone like myself with only moderate knowledge of these things, it seems this is anetwork problem with Comcast, maybe an attack of some kind?

I feel as though I'm safe thanks to ZA. My concern is the memory use by vsmon and not releasing the memory after these scans, or whatever is happening, stops.

Thanks again, Moodster

Could you copy some of the lines that show this from zalog.txt and post it here?

WOW! Have you done a scan with a malware scanner or three? The only thing I can think of is someone has gotten control of your computer and is using it for things that you don't want. I would also use a trojan scanner and have you done a virus scan lately?

http://www.trojanscan.com/ a free online trojan scanner
http://www.safer-networking.org/ Spybot S&D Malware scanner
http://lavasoft.element5.com/ AdAware malware scanner
http://www.webroot.com/ Spy Sweeper, another malware scanner
http://www.grisoft.com AVG antivirus

Yea you are probably right.

I use adaware regularly and check for updates before each use. I have been to trojan.com, and I use norton AV 2002 which is updated weekly. I have tried Spybot S&D but it seemed to find the same as adaware so I only useadaware now. All say computer is clean.

One detail I should have mentioned yesterday is that once in a while -very rarely- there is mention of attbi.net ( comcast is my provider&nbspin the log viewer tab under Alerts & Logsunder the source DNS heading, the destination DNSheading is always blank.

Thank you for your respone, Hoov, I am Grateful

AdAware and spybot usually do find the same things, but there is some different things that they find. That is why I suggest using them both. Before I can suggest more, what version of windows are you using? I don't see where you have said.

Good morning Hoov,

I run XP Pro that is kept updated with Windows Update.

I have been trying to ask other Comcast users of this concern, but none are aware of anything happening. When I ask about a firewall or a router I usually get blank looks, I'm sure you've seen the kind I'm talking about.

I have no confidence in calling Comcast tech support and am waiting for a time when I can show or talk to a field tech about the traffic I get at times. Maybe some other Comcast users using this forum are having this concern and could let me, us, know if I am alone or not.

By the way, it's Sunday morning at 9:30 AM and there is no traffic at this time, my router activity lights are not blinking andI am not getting any alerts.

It's Super Bowl Sunday and I will not think about this anymore today. I dont care who wins I just want to see a goodgame and some uniquecommercials!!

Thank you for watching this message, Hoov.

Yes my XP firewall is off, it cause's compatability issues when on with ZA.

I found a friend that is aComcast cust. andhas the same Linksys Router as mine. She will keep an eye out for me watching for activity from the lights on the router.

All is quiet tonight, no alerts or lights flashing.

Thanks again, Moodster
