    Default True Vector Shut Down

    Had vsmon.exe and vsruledb.dll fail.
Then shortly after True vector Monitor failed.
Any ideas why it happened? Thanks.

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Pro
    Software Version:6.1

How did you know that vsmon.exe and vsruledb.dll failed? Was Zone Alarm Pro working ok before?

    Yes.
I looked at the error logs (ControlPanel-Administrative Tools-Event Viewer-see below)
on WinXP and it said that these files failed in an address space and then shortly after True Vector Monitor failed. 17:29.17

Faulting application vsmon.exe, version 6.1.737.0, faulting module vsruledb.dll, version 6.1.737.0, fault address 0x000233d7. and then the second message:
This happened at 17:34.18 The TrueVector Internet Monitor service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).
How I noticed this was after my PC was idle for a couple of hours I went to get on the net and ZA True vector Monitor had shut down.
I've used free ZA and ZA Pro for over 2 years and never had this problem.
My PC is virus and ad/malware free according to the multiple apps I have to check for these things.

    So I investigated.

Ah, I see. For a moment I thought you were seeing some sort of popup alert rather than investigating in your Event Viewer. True Vector will occasionally have an error and shutdown. It is the typical "Sorry, application XYZ has encountered a problem and must shutdown". I'm sure you've seen this alert with other programs before? If it happens with True Vector infrequently (no more than every few months) then I'd not worry. It happens to me too. But if it happens more often, say a few times a month or worse, then I'd suggest you do a 'clean' uninstall and then load a fresh copy of Zone Alarm.

Here's how to uninstall if you wish. Go into the start menu locate the zonelabs entry and right click on the uninstaller and select properties. Now in the target box you must add a space and then /clean to the end so that it looks something like this "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninst.exe" /clean click apply and then OK. Next open ZA and turn off the load on boot option, then reboot and then run the uninstaller. This should get rid of all of ZoneAlarm. Now go to your windows temp folder and delete everything. Find the folder named Internet logs and delete it then empty your recycle bin.

I've been keeping these Vsmon error logs for a few months now, so i'll put them here just in case they might be useful?
Both are from the free versions, but they are not exclusive to the free ZoneAlarm it seems. It doesn't happen often, but its a new thing for ZA from past experience(like over a year ago and before), so i suspect someone would like it fixed.
