    Default Dial up Speed

    I have been using the Free Zone Alarm for some time now and my dial up speed has allways been around 26kbps I just recently uninstalled Zone Alarm and tried the windows based firewall and my speed went up to 48kbps I have done this several times installing and uninstalling installed my speed goes down to 26 uninstalled using windows firewall my speed goes up to 48 I thought I just had bad dial up does anyone know why Zone Alarm causes this drop big drop in speed.Before anyone says why are you still using dial up thats all that is available here except for satalite that I can't afford.

    There have been threads in the past about ZA 6.x causing a big drop in ADSL speeds so maybe this is a similar thing. I dont think any reason was found. Ver 4.5 was found not to casuse any slowdown & 5.5 only on some systems. It may be worth trying one of these. At dial-up speeds any improvement is worth it !
