    Default Problem with zonealarm

    Product Name=FREE ZoneAlarm
    Product Version=6.5
    Description of technical Issue=
I have installed zonalarm free. Now I got some problems. After rebooting my computer zonealarm services starts, but now icon shows I systemtray. I have been trying to delete the files in the internet log folder. If I try to run zonealarm from the exe file I get an error from windows "access denied" I got admin rights on my computer. I got SP2 installed. The computer has just been formatted so there should not be virus, Trojans or spyware on it. I have uninstalled zonealarm many times.

    Hi,

I would suggest you follow this thread: http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/b...ssage.id=48347 . These instructions are very intense and you will need to make sure you follow the "EXACT INSTRUCTIONS". It only takes one little registry key or file to cause any type of problems with Zone Alarm, so therefore you need to make sure you cover each step in the instructions.

PLEASE keep me posted on your results, Thanks.

    Hello, Slyfox!

Thanks very much for posting that link. I have just renewed my ZAP fw & reluctantly opted to abandon version 5, remembering that 6 was buggy (on my PC) when I upgraded last to it. I uninstalled through ZAP, without dleting any registry entries.

The problem I have is that whenever I close down ZAP 6 (I do it so that I can re-launch it & have it recognised by other security software that I have), the memory on my PC receives a huge hit - I can't access any programvia desktop shortcuts(not even ZAP, ironically) nor canIopen Task Manager (my PC has a Pentium 4 CPU, with 512 MB RAM).

I knew about this page, but couldn't find it. I'm going to try the steps listed, & see if that helps.

I knew this would happen. My clean install didn't work, so I'll just say a quick sorry to Naa for intruding here, & go off topost a new thread about my problem.
