    Default Game Mode

Is it possible to configure ZA such that when you exit Game Mode it lists the executable(s) that was/were automatically allowed access. Then you could choose to "always allow" or "never allow" access at that point.

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite
    Software Version:6.5

Hello drpierre and welcome to the forum. Unfortunately that is not possible when using game mode because you can either select allow (which reduces your security) or deny (which may block something legitimate). The only advice is to check your overview which gives you a total of your programs and/or program listing before enabling game mode and rechecking it after to see if any additional programs were added.

Your logs will contain any alerts that would have appeared but were surpressed by Game Mode. That way you can see which programs requested for permission while you ran game mode. Then head to the program list and give a more permanent permission to the program involved.

I've done a search and come across some ideas, but I don't know if they've been implemented.

Is there a way to get Game Mode to start automatically? Perhaps it's possible to create a batch file that could include a command line parameter for turning on game mode either in "allow" or "deny" mode. I've actually had system crashes because I forgot to turn it on.

Also, there seems to be a disagreement. Are events logged during game mode or not? I'm inclined to believe the "guru," but I guess I can check that for myself.

The only entry in the logs I've found was for the game executable which originally came up with a 'changed' alert when I first ranit after a patch had been applied.
At that time I did not have game mode turned on and it failed at some point after that.
I've checked and the game executable
    is
allowed access to the local and internet zones with an Auto setting as a result.
But whatever is failing if game mode is not turned on, and is working when it is turned on, is definitely not being logged in any way.
As the original poster suggested, this would be a significant improvement to the product in that it would allow users to turn on game mode only briefly to trap the few instances which they need to permit manually - hopefully being able to add them directly from the event list rather than enter them manually.
This is consistent with the whole principle of zonealarm and is highly desirable.
Please can we have a view from the developers as to the possibility of this feature?
