Default Zone Alarm free - sometimes 0.0.0.0

Hi to everybody, I'm new on this forum.Since few years ago I used ZA to protect my PC - without any problems. Now I have ZA free 7.0.462.000 installed on my HP notebook. The notebook has a
wireless board (Intell PRO 2200BG), the SO is Win XP Home and software/drivers are up to date.I use WPA2/PSK wireless encription to connect to my router+ADSL modem 3Com (no DHCP, static IP addr.).Usually I switch on my notebook and I start to surf internet without any problem. But sometimes, I switch on the notebook and it is not able to link the wireless router. This is due because on ZA - Firewall - Zones the IP address of the notebook wireless board is not correct (it is 0.0.0.0).
Why ?!?What is the reason that sometimes the ZA starts and does not recognize correctly the
static IP address of the installed wireless board?(Usually, as I said, the ZA starts correctly, it recognize the IP address of the PC).The ZA autostarted at the SO bootstrap.

Any your help will be very appreciated.Tanks a lot. Bye.

Make sure your DNS and DHCP server IP's are in your Firewall's Trusted zone. Finding DNS and DCHP servers, etc

    1. Go to Run and type in command and hit 'ok', and in the command then type in ipconfig /all then press the enter key. In the returned data list will be a line DNS and DHCP Servers with the IP address(s) listed out to the side. Make sure there is a space between the ipconfig and the /all, and the font is the same (no capitals).
    2. In ZA on your machine on the Firewall, open the Zones tab, click Add and then select IP Address. Make sure the Zone is set to Trusted. Add the DNS IP(s) .
    3. Click OK and Apply. Then do the same for the DHCP server.
    4. The localhost (127.0.0.1) must be listed as Trusted.
    5. The Generic Host Process (svchost.exe) as seen in the Zone Alarm's Program's list must have server rights for the Trusted Zone.
Plus it must have both Trusted and Internet Access.

Extra help is found at Guru Hoov site for the DNS/DHCP.

Thanks a lot for your support.
The PC has static IP address. So DHCP service is disabled.DNS (1 & 2) and
    loopback address are already listed
like trusted. Also the svchost has the rights like your suggestion.
    Bye.

Yes the DHCP service of the windows is disabled.

Even if the assigned IP of the PC is static and locked in, there is still a
DHCP server IP needed and very much used.
But the IP of the network connection device (wireless card or ethernet connection) should also be added as Trusted.
The free does not show the DHCP server and it's IP, but instead the DHCP server with the network connection card's name and the DHCP server IP.

Sorry, I do not understand at all.If I run ipconfig /all there is no DHCP IP.
Of course on the Firewall - Zones there is the PC wireless board IP address (with subnet), automatically added by ZA Free. But this is the problem, sometimes at the bootstrap of the PC seems that ZA Free does not recognize the PC wireless board IP and ZA add 0.0.0.0 (in place that its
    correct static IP).
On Firewall - Zones, have I to add also the router IP address (gateway) ?
    Like Trusted or Internet?

    Thanks a lot Oldsod.

The ZA free will always show the network adapter with the dhcp/gateway address. It's one of it's quirks. The ipconfig may not show a dhcp IP, but it may show a gateway IP, which is usually the very same as the router or the dhcp. Often if the router is also dns server, then the dhcp and dns IP's are the same.
This should be trusted not internet.

If the router has not MAC's in the PC (set by user), then perhaps the IP asigned to the PC is different on every bootup?
Are the dns and dhcp client services enabled?

In the properties of the tcp/ip, is the windows set to automatically find the assigned IP and gateway?

    Is the multicast/broadcast enabled?

Is the ZA set as a client of the ICS/NAT gateway?

    Best regards.
