Thread: Panel failed to initialize.

    Default Panel failed to initialize.

When I start up my computer I get the message "The Anti-virus/Anti-spyware panel failed to initialize. The resources for the panel may be missing or corrupt." I tried following the suggestion of Oldsod made on 11/15 with no success. Any ideas what I can do about this? Except for this the ZoneLab system seems to be working fine.

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Pro
    Software Version:6.5

Not sure about the suggestion, but go to c:\windows\internet logs and see if there is a file there named lspconflict.txt . If there is open it, and post the contents here.

My thanks to Hoov but I don't seem to have the file Ispconflict.twx in my computer. I will go to his website and see whether anything there helps.

Its my site, and won't help with your problem. Could you give me a quick summary of what you have done this far?

I deleted the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files in the c/windows/internet logs folder. Then for three days the problem seemed to have gone away. Then on the fourth day the problem was back and, mysteriously, the two deleted files were also back. Any thoughts you might have on the matter would be most appreciated.

I have the same problem after updating the ZoneAlarm Security Suite to 6.5.737.000.

    Is there any solution?

Try doing a clean install of the new version.

Try doing a clean install to the new version. Back up your settings before you do, but don't restore them

Thanks, I'll try it if I need to. For some mysterious reason I haven't been troubled again for the past week by the problem.

Thank you for your reply, but the problem is not serious enough that I want to give up and redo all my settings, especially after swash writes that it hasn't helped...

Somehow I'm still hoping that the "increased stability" that's promised with every new release might finally catch on...
