    Default Long Boot Time

I'm running an older PIII machine (Win 2000, 512 memory, two hard drives
10 gig each) and have been using ZASS forever....
Over the years the boot time is getting longer and longer and by boot time I mean
the time that my system is accessing the hard drives.
I suspected it had some thing to do with ZA so I did a little test.
I timed the start up time - from when I start the machine to when the hard drive access stops - and with ZA installed it takes 7 minutes and about 15 seconds.
If I uninstall ZASS it only takes 2 minutes and 45 second give or take a few seconds.
Is this normal and is there any thing I can do to shorten the boot time with ZASS installed.
FYI -just the basics running at boot up.
    I have only 25
processes running according to Task manager and only 4 programs that
start up as defined by MSconfig.
No errors in event viewer etc.. What
    do you think?

    Operating System:Windows 2000 Pro
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite
    Software Version:6.5

    Hi That seems terriblely slow.

Are there any application with server rights for the Internet Zone?

Are all of the driver and BIOS been updated?

Are there other security applications running as well?

Has any online scans been done to check for possible malware or infections that the ZA may have missed?

    http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html

    http://www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan/

    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Please use the IE for these free scans since they all use actvieX to work.

Does the ZA program listing have a lot of old and unused applications listed? A reset of the database may fix this and any possible ZA mistake that could be causing the problem:

Boot your computer into the Safe Mode

Navigate to the c:\windows\internet logs folder

Delete the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files in the folder

    Clean the Recycle Bin

    Reboot into the normal mode

This will make the ZA just as the moment it was installed with no setting or data.

Are there any IM's starting with Windows or a GoogleDesktop working? Any there any other antispam filtering software installed? Any P2P software being used? Any other security with ad blocking or site blockers or web shields?

Has the system file check and disk check been done lately?

    Are the hard drives healthy?

To answer your questions1.) No other apps have server right to internet zone2.) all drivers are current as is the bios3.) No other security
apps running4.) i did a couple of other scans (like swat it) looking for trojan horses and bots and I did a ZA scan doing
the bit level and deep scan options5.)
I just reinstalled ZASS so the logs and permissions are all new and minimal6.) No IM's starting with Windows or
    GoogleDesktop working? No
other antispam filtering software installed? No P2P software being used?
No other security with ad blocking or site blockers or web shields7.) did a chkdsk and it said every thing was good8.) Hard drives are healthy according to some utilities I have.
Any other suggestions (BTW I will try and run some of those other scans an let you know what happens)
