    Default ZoneAlarm Pro Registry Entries

Whilst looking for causes of slow startup I have discovered two registry entries for ZoneAlarm both in
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentUser\Run
    1. Zone Labs Client
    2. ZoneAlarm Client
    both are associated with drive":\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exe"
My suspicion is that only one of these entries is required but if I am correct, which entry should I delete ?
If only one entry is required, I can't imagine how the other got there.
Due to a previous problem with vsmon and zlclient hogging cpu, I was advised by ZL to completely delete ZA and re-install. I did this but now wonder if the second registry entry is a leftover from the previous ZA Pro installation.

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Pro
    Software Version:7.0

    Hi Onesone

The key is as follows for the ZA AS 6.1:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

    has this:

    Name: Zone Labs Client
    Type: REGSZ
    Data: C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exe

However this is a ZA AS 6.1 and not a ZAPro. There could be some differnces due to the additional features of the ZAPro that are not found in the ZA AS 6.1

I suppose you could save that key and then edit the registry key by deleting it and see how it goes. If there is some ZA performance issue, you could always replace or re-create the key again.

    Best regards.

Thanks 'oldsod'. A reasonable suggestion. Whichever one I delete will not affect the startup of ZA but it may affect the future success of automated upgrades/deletions, or even affect the behaviour of other applications that may look for the presence of ZoneAlarm (maybe, possibly, with a following wind etc) ! I'll retain one, save and delete the other and see what happens. Though I may forget before the next appearance of Haley's comet :-)
