Default Zone Alarm Checkup powered by IOLO Technologies

Yesterday I received an email from ZoneAlarm which offered a free scan of my computer.
I
do not
currently
have Zone Alarm on my
Windows Vista Home Premium system.
The program it ran was from IOLO technologies.
The program ran normally but then was not able to download the report from the IOLO server.
I tried several times, changed the security on my machine and even turned off the firewall to see if it woulld work.

It didn't.
Today I got a pop-up from amaena.com listing my ip address and warning me of all kinds of vulnarabilities and threats to my machine.

My questions:Is the program I ran yesterday
a Zone Alarm offered program? Should I try to run it again?Does the popup window from amaena.com mean I have a virus?
I am not sure which forum to post this so please direct it.
Thank you for any help you can offer.Meagain

Operating System:Windows Vista
Product Name:Other ZoneAlarm Product

It
was very reassuring that it is a marketing ploy from ZA/IOLO.
Today I got a pop-up from amaena.com listing my ip address and warning me of all kinds of vulnarabilities and threats to my machine.
I am concerned that I may have picked up a virus when I closed the firewall to see if I could get the program to run.
I run free AVG and free Ad-Aware SE.
Both are up-to-date.

Any thoughts on this? Thanks for your help.Meagain

I downloaded the scanner and got this message:

Some components are damaged or not present.
Please reinstall the application.
I tried running the download several times but no success.
I d not see any place to delete the original downloaded application.
Where is it?
Does the program not run on VISTA? Or maybe a virus isn t allowing it to run?

Any ideas?

Thank you.

May be it does not run on VISTA.... sorry.See if it is listed under the control panel --> Programs --> Programs and featuresUuhm... lets see.You can try the free (after registration) AOL AVS, it is now compatible with VISTA.Get the free 1 year license here: http://www.activevirusshield.com/ant...et_started.adpand then download it here: http://download.nullsoft.com/avs/AVS_v25.exeIf requested DO NOT install the AOL security toolbar (or whatever is called)Before doing this, please remove AVG. AVG is not up to AVS in terms of virus detection and its better not to run two AVs at the same time.Fax

meagain, it looks like you have some kind of spyware/adware that you have. Amaena.com is trying to propagate malware that you really need to get rid of - see - McAfeeSiteAdvisor - Red X -rating - http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/amaena.com .

It's using a 'winfixer' threat - see - CA security - http://www.ca.com/securityadvisor/pe...x?id=453097528 . there are variations you need to check out, compare with results from SiteAdvisor's download analysis.
Do not run that 'free scan' ever again. It's a third party company with somewhat "dubious" practices; remember it's iolo. See - http://forums.zonealarm.com/zonelabs...ssage.id=15948 .
Recommendations - find as many Vista version anti-spyware that you can find, I'd even recommend Windows
Defender- it's free, see - http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_...tm#trustworthy
. Some of the better anti-spy are the two paid versions Webroot SpySweeper and PCTools SpywareDoctor - but the other free versions listed may ? be able to detect and get rid of it. Always check to see for Vista compatibility first before downloading or buying.
:8}NaiveMelody NYC 5-31-07~11:45pm e.s.t. - One way out - The Allman Brothers Band
