Default Latest ZA is Freezing Internet Explorer 7

Hi Everyone
I have the latest version of free ZA running on a high end pc with windows XP pro, also on 2 laptops running XP home and on all three if they are left for more than a few minutes Internet explorer locks up and the only two ways to resolve are to reboot or surprise surprise, switch off Zonealarm. Can anyone help and is this a common problem.Cheers

Operating System:Windows XP Pro
Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)
Software Version:7.0

Please look thru this - http://forums.zonealarm.com/zonelabs...message.id=145
.
Look down the list for.. Internet Explorer..in the "Trusted Level" Column of Internet Explorer LEFT Click and Click on SUPER, this will place 3 Green Bars in that ColumnThe next Column is "ACCESS" Left Click in that Column and change Red X's to Green Check marks for "Trusted" and "Internet" accessChange all other Marks on that Line to "?" Question Marks for Ask..
Now you should not have anymore problem with MS IE..
Make sure all of the following Programs have Trusted and Internet access (Green Check Marks):
a.) All Microsoft wand Windows Programs have Green Check marks for Trusted and Internet Access..b.) Generic Host Process for win32 Services (svchost.exe) also allow Trusted Server Rightsc.) IE Crash Detectiond.) Internet Explorere.) Malicious Software Removal Toolf.) True Vector Service
(If it is listed)g.) Zone Alarm Clienth.) Zone Alarm Updating Clienti.) Your Email Client needs Trusted, Internet and Send Mail all need Green check Marks..

Also read this by Guru Oldsod - http://forums.zonealarm.com/zonelabs...ssage.id=30671
.-
Make sure the DNS and the DHCP server(s) IP's are listed as Trusted in the Zones of the Firewall in the ZA.

Like this:

1. Go to Run type in command, hit OK, and type ipconfig /all then press enter. In the returned data list will be a line DNS and DHCP Servers with the IP address(s) listed out to the side
2. In ZA on your machine on the Firewall>Zones tab click Add and then select IP Address. Make sure the Zone is set to Trusted
3. Click OK and then Apply for each one, the DNS server(s) and the DHCP server, by IP.
4. The loopback must be listed as Trusted. It has the address of 127.0.0.1
5 The Generic Host Process or the svchost.exe listed in the Program list must have both Trusted and Internet access and it must have server rights for the Trusted Zone, but not the Internet Zone.

This should fix the loss of the connection to either the router or the DNS servers, which is probably the cause of the loss of the connections.
Are there any high cpu cycles?? do you use a logitech webcam?? Any ZA alerts? Check Task Manager if Svchost.exe/Generic Host Process for win32 services - is running high Cpu cycles? if so, there may be a Microsoft issues. You can use the red search box at bottom of page to find past posts with similar problems.:8}NaiveMelody NYC 5-31-07
