Default Emprty rows in ZA logs and ZA freezing

    Hi!

My friend has been having strange problems with his Zone Alarm Pro. ZA Log viewer sometimes shows empty rows as if something was blocked/allowed, but there is nothing there. The empty rows don't show up in ZA log files when he opens them in Notepad.
ZA also freezes from time to time. It started freezing a month ago. It doesn't freeze every day, but it is frequent and annoying.

    program: ZA Pro version 7.0.337.0
OS: Windows 2000, all latest updates

    Operating System:Windows 2000 Pro
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Pro

    Hi

Seems maybe the ZA has a database corruption. Removing the database and starting over should solve the problem. But if there is some conflicting software or interferring software, then there could be a permanent problem. Really your friend should be the one posting, since it is his PC and he could answer and ask much better, than through a third party such as yourself.

    Anyways just tell him this:

Boot your computer into the Safe Mode

Navigate to the c:\windows\internet logs folder

Delete the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files in the folder

    Clean the Recycle Bin

    Reboot into the normal mode

ZA will be just like new with no previous settings or data

But if there is still a problem, then is it not he posts instead of you?

I know everything about his computer so I can answer as good as he could.
He did a clean install last time this problem appeared and set everything anew. That was exactly one month ago. The problem went away for a while, but now it started happening again. Clean install one month ago proved to be an OK solution till now.

The problem could be a disk management Software or from the other security applciatuions.
Any third psrty disk defraggers or spy site blockers or cookie shields or ad blockers or HIPS or recently previously uninstalled firewalls or any antivirus with web scanners How is the HDD health and is there enough RAM? Does the Event Viewer show any errors? Are there any other applications with issues? Have you done a System File Check and Disk Check?
