Thread: Blue Screens

    Default Blue Screens



    We use the Free version of Zone Alarm. All PCs are running Windows XP SP2.

    In the last two weeks we have had 6 different laptop with problems.




    4 are getting blue screens with a variety of error messages.

    - Physical dump

    - Cancel_Stat_in_Completed_IRP

    - IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL




    2 of the PCs are running extremely slow - including the internet.

    We have found by uninstalling ZoneAlarm that resolves the problem.




    We have tried to upgrade the version we intermittently get a Break Point error. The laptop has to be booted into safe mode to uninstall ZoneAlarm. Rebooted and then it can be reinstalled. Due to this problem we have stopped upgrading ZoneAlarm.

    Unfortunately the free version does not have any support by ZA directly...Unless you get support here by other users I would personally trying a different free firewall.You can have a look a this site (http://www.matousec.com/) for a list...Cheers,Fax

    I had similar problem with Zone Alarms kludging up my system. I found that the spyware facilities use an enormous amount of processor time. Turn off their spyware and you should notice a dramatic improvement in your PCs.
