Do you have in the trusted zone
    DHCP server
    DNS server(s)
    Loopback address (127.0.0.1) ?

If not, collect the network adapter values
    Start > Run
    type cmd and hit enter
on the command window type ipconfig /all
and fill the needed values into ZA Firewall Zones tab where your network adapter subnet now is.

9meg isn't that big for DSL, so it shouldn't be dying like this

ZA free detects the network but calls it network adapter. It corresponds to your IP.
and ZA free normally puts something like this in under the name 'network adapter' 192.168.1.100/255.255.255.0, whereas ZA suite, for instance, lets you name the network which normally looks like this 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0.

I don't understand why a 9meg download would make things shut down other than the missing trusted zone data I suggested. I hope someone else will have some clues. You're not on a slow dialup. Even that should not pose problems. Perhaps Windows or ZA thinks computer is idle? What if you moved the mouse every so oftem during the download?
