Default ZAISS7 drastically slows access to wsj.com (Wall Street Journal)

Background:I installed ZAISS7 one month ago.
For three weeks, with ZAISS7 on, access to wsj.com had normal (i.e. two second) response time to load pages.
One week ago, response time to clicks on links on pages of the Online Wall Street Journal slowed drastically.
The only site with slow response time with ZAISS7 on is the Wall Street Journal.
Today
a Wall Street Journal web support representative referred me to Zone Alarm's technical support department for problem resolution.
Problem details:Using IE7, with ZAISS7 not loaded, access to online.wsj.com/us/home or wsj.com has 1 second response time when clicking on links to stories and features.
When ZAISS7 is turned on, the initial site logon is redirected to commerce.barrons.com.
Access to wsj pages is provided after about 30 seconds after manually clicking the redirect link labeled "here".
The first two or three pages clicked in the newspaper load within 2-5 seconds.
From that point on, EACH PAGE TAKES
FIVE
MINUTES to load.
Turning off ZAISS7 causes page loading time to drop to 1-2 seconds.
Accessing wsj.com with Firefox provides quick access for the first six to ten clicks on links, and then it also
slows to five minutes per click. (This is XP/SP2 Pro, IE7, Firefox 2.0.0.6 and cable modem internet access with
6Mb download speed.)
Current settings:

- ZA Privacy/Site list is set to allow 3rd party cookies, web bugs and private headers for wsj.com, online.wsj.com/home/us, barrons.com, wsjonline.com, and om.dowjoneson.com.

- IE/tools/internet options/privacy/sites has wsj.com, barrons.com, wsjonline.com, om.dowjoneson.com marked as ALWAYS ALLOW.

- deleting wsj.com cookies and clearing cashe don't fix this problem.
Questions:1) What other settings should be checked and what additional steps should I take to restore quick response time to the Wall Street Journal's web site while ZAIIS7 is on?
2) What is the email address of
the Zone Labs techical customer support department
responsibie for
solutions to this type of problem?

safeorsorry, thank you for a nicely detailed history; if only every user would do the same.
From McAfee SiteAdvisor - http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/wsj..._type=IEPlugin . wsj.com gives you some ' RSS toolbars' and a number of third-party cookies.
Things you can try:
1- on main tabs of ZA shut-off the entire "Privacy Protection" and see if it works - And use IE instead of firefox - http://forums.zonealarm.com/zonelabs...d=67148#M32956
one month ago, everything seems to work smoothly - which indicates ZA's Firewall setting of "Auto" = Medium (learning mode) of the 'Internet Zone Security' may be the optimal settings needed for wsj to work [ after about three weeks "Auto=Medium" automatically raises to the "Maximum = High" settings which you normally should have on - all the time; but with a few exceptions (certain apps - need the "Medium setings in order to work) ] 2- on ZA's > Firewall > Main > change 'Internet Zone Security' lower from 'Maximum = High' to "Auto = Medium" temporarily and only for use with wsj. Remember to turn back up after a session.
3- for all the programs active with wsj - give three green bars - super trust level, Access - two green checks, Server - ? ? , Mail - ? . Check your settings against this - http://forums.zonealarm.com/zonelabs...message.id=145
Here is the link to ZA Tech Support - http://www.zonealarm.com/store/conte...id=cshome_form
NaiveMelody NYC 9-6-07 - Money - Pink Floyd

Hi!if you have a valid license you can contact (free of charge)the ZA technical support at: www.zonelabs.com/tsform Have you tried to turn OFF all privacy control under the main ZA privacy tab?(cookies control, ad blocking and mobile control)Any improvements with everything turned OFF?Also check (under firewall) that Trusted Zone Security is set to MEDIUM and not HIGH.Try to remove all wsj related items and let ZA recreate them.Check under "C:\Windows\Internet Logs", do you see a lot of .tmp files? If yes, your ZA database may be corrupted.I have just tried toload the wsj site andit works fine here, no delays. Any specific page to test?Cheers,Fax

Does ZoneAlarm have plans to let users keep privacy settings on while using the Wall Street Journal?

Hi!wsj works fine with ZA privacy settings. Do you have a page you cannot display? Please report it here so we can test it...Whatare your specific privacy settings?Sometimes webpages will not load unless you accept cookies or you allow private headers or you allow animations, this is not a ZA issue but done on purpose by the page you load. You may want to try the following:01.) Close all Internet browsers
02.) Open Zone Alarm
03.) Click the Privacy Panel, Main Tab, and turn all items to off.
04.) Open your browser and make sure the site is working as expected.
05.) Close your browsers.
06.) Turn your privacy settings back to the settings you would like them,
and then click the Site List Tab.
07.) Open your browser to the web site that was not working and watch the
Site List Tab in Zone Alarm.
08.) Zone Alarm will add the sites that it has blocked items from to this list
as it blocks things. Change the red X?s to green check marks for the site
that you wish to allow to bypass your Zone Alarm privacy settings by
clicking the X?s and choosing allow.

Now click on the sites added one at a time and click the Options Button in
the lower right, Ad Blocking Tab, remove the top 3 checks for ads, and click
OK. Some sites will link into other sites to work correctly and these sites
should pop into the Site List as you browse the page and may need access
as well. Some sites no matter what you do will need privacy disabled such
as sites that link into Java sources. If you add all green checks to the sites
that popped into the Site List window from viewing your page and you still
cannot access the page properly you will need to temporarily disable your
privacy settings while viewing the page and enabled it again if you wish
when you are finished.
Cheers,Fax
