Default Frequent new file association changes due to 7.0.462.000?

I just downloaded and installed ZoneAlarm Pro 7.0.462.000, and now all of a sudden I'm frequently getting messages from another monitoring app that something keeps trying to change my file associations for several file types, such as .js and .reg to notepad.exe

Is this new version of ZAP causing this?

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Pro

We can tell you that ZA is not changing file extensions. Its posible the program thats reporting it to you or a false possitive from that program. What program is it? If your going to report a issue please be complete and dont leave things wide open.Forum Moderator

It's not file extensions that are being changed, it's file associations. Two very different things. I thought my thread title and the contents of my posts would have made that clear. I apologize if it didn't.

    > Its posible the program thats reporting it to you or a false possitive from that program.

Highly doubtful, as I've never, ever seen this before and it started immediately after upgrading ZA Pro. Furthermore, it is one of the jobs of program that is reporting these attempts to report these things.

I didn't think the name of the reporting program was critical or that I was "leaving things wide open" since there are at least 20 other programs that do the same thing. In this case, the program is called WinPatrol. One of its jobs is to report when something tries to change file associations.

I have confirmed that, without a doubt, it is Zone Alarm Pro 7.0.462.000 that is doing this to me. It took exhaustive efforts, but there can be no doubt.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to back out of that change without re-installing ZA Pro?
