Default ZA SS v7.0.462 TrueVector security service keeps shutting down

i wasnt sure if i should post here or the upgrade forum, so plz move if this post is in wrong forum! :0i read thru forum back to November 20, and searched for "truevector" and read those posts, but i dont think my issue was addressed, altho Laflauta may have had a similar issue.
Problem: TrueVector security service shuts down when computer accessess the internet. this may or may not be a
    security problem, since i
believe this stops IE7 (and others) from connecting to the net, but it definitely is a problem if you want to do anything on the net (and who doesnt?).
My system: Win XP Pro with SP2, ZA SS v7.0.462, TrueVector v7.0.462, also running Spybot. IE7, MS Outlook 2003
Other info: was running ZA SS v7.0.337 for
    nine months or so,
and just upgraded to 462, at which point this issue started. After reading this forum, i removed ZA SS, and re-installed. Then i wrote to ZA tech support, and followed their suggestion to do a clean install. still have the problem, and it is very repeatable.
Longer description of problem and symptoms:

install (all of them) proceeded smoothly. ZA starts OK, and
appears to be fine as long as i am working locally, but as soon as i start IE7, i get the red box and yellow "X" in my sys tray. when i mouse over the box, i see "TrueVector security service is shut down." I run MS Outlook, which checks for mail, so that also will cause the red box to appear, altho sometimes it pull down some of my email. But i have not been able to send any emails from Outlook. Sometimes the "Z" icon reappears, so TV has restarted, but red box and dreaded yellow X come back , and eventually remain. Neither IE7 nor Firefox connect to the internet; they say "connecting" but never do -- i assume this is because TV has shut down.
Things i have tried: as i mentioned, have reinstalled (original install plus two others), and written to tech support. i also turned off mail safe and ran that way -- still have TV shutdown. i have installed directly from the internet, and downloaded the file (used IE7 to d/l). Did not have spybot on while installing. Turning off spybot doesnt seem to help.
any ideas? in any case, thank for reading this far!

Ste_bran I experienced a similar problem last evening with the yellow box
and red X when signing off. When I logged on this morning I recieved
a pop up window from zone alarm stating that in order to restart true vector
I needed to open outlook or outlook express email. Click ok. Hit start
opened outlook express and my zass 7.0.408 loaded normally. Hope this helps.

Finally fixed! thanks, PBI, but that didnt solve my problem. after going back and forth with ZA tech support, i changed my sys config
    to
NOT run most services and items at startup, then a very clean install. The cleaning is more thorough than the clean install Oldsod (and others?) have posted, so i will post the directions as i got them from ZA tech support here. WARNING! Reg edit required -- be careful! :0
First, please uninstall ZoneAlarm from your Start -> Programs ->
ZoneAlarm menu if it is present.

Then, please follow the instructions below my signature to remove any
remaining ZoneAlarm files that may still be on the system. You should
then be able to install the latest version with no further issues.
