It is Sometimes very Difficult to Diagnose and fix a Computer from halfway across the Country,
without All the Details, without the ability to sit in front of your Computer monitor and see what's going on..
If you would Describe your Computer Setup/OS and Version of Zone Alarm that you are having a problem with
and what difficulty you are having, and what Previous Version of ZA and Norton, McAfee or other Security programs that you have installed,
there are several very knowledgeable Volunteer Participants willing to help you try solving your problem with Zone Alarm..Please provide as much detail and error messages etc. that you see on your ComputerMonitor. I have two possible solutions dep[ending on many other factors that you did not include in your request for help..
1.) it could be caused by a Conflict with other security programs running in the background on your computer.. Make sure that Windows Firewall is Turned off.. and if your running any other Anti-Virus or Anti-Spyware programs the have 'Registry Guard" etc that can prevent Zone Alarm from changing Registry settings..Just One, Not Two -- Never use two software Firewalls at the same time. Completely uninstall one before installing another (except for windows Firewall just turn it off). Use the vendor's uninstall utility or if not available, use the Windows XP add/remove software tool in the control panel.- with Webroot SpySweeper, SpywareDoctor, CounterSpy, AVG guard, Windows Defender, etc.- temporarily shut off the real time protective - shields, guards, watches, proactive protection, Ad-Watch, etc. Or just temporarily shut-down the software.2. You may have a Corrupted ZA Database..This could be that ZoneALarms Database may have been corrupted somehow, thus affecting the logging and Program Permisions ,you may need to Reset the ZA database,
BUT BE AWARE this will remove your program permission settings (so you may want to make note of them), but re-establishing the permission settings is a simple process.

Reset the database this way
1. Shut down the client from the system tray (Right click ZA icon choose shutdown)
2. access the c:\windows\internet logs folder
3. Delete the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files.
4. Restart Zone Alarm..--------------------------------------------------------
