Default Preventing automatic assignment of Trust Level

Why does ZA automatically assign a trust level of Super
to some applications? How can I make it ask ME instead?
I'm not sure whether this is done by ZA to avoid having to
ask too many questions of the user, but I'm not happy
with this bahaviour and would like to configure ZA to
NEVER assume a program can access the net without ME
confirming it. Can it be done? How?

    Cheers,

    Bonny

I have ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite for Windows XP Pro SP2 so I'm hoping you will see the same things that I do. Go to Program Control > SmartDefense Advisor and set it to either Auto (ZoneAlarm wil not set access options but will make suggestions) or Off (ZoneAlarm will not make suggestions). If there are some Super settings you don't like, you could delete all those entries in the Program tab and let ZoneAlarm ask you again.

    Hi,

Smart Defense Advisor configured to Auto: This setting is for Smart Defense Advisor to set the configuration automatically without asking the user.

Smart Defense Advisor configured to Manual: This setting allows the user to configure the settings with advice from Smart Defense Advisor - nothing is set automatically with this setting - the user controls the configuring.

Smart Defense Advisor configured to Off: The user will get no security advise from Smart Defense Advisor and the user controls the configuring of settings.

I am a ZAISS user as well and I believe the "Manual" setting in ZAPro is "Medium" on the slider.

    Please take note:
Leaving the SmartDefense Advisor in Automatic Mode is an good idea to preconfigure the rules.
Once the rule is created, the rules status in the SmartDefense column is Auto.
If you are not satisfied with the configuration, change the status to Custom and configure the rule to your satisfaction.
Once the rules status is Custom, the SmartDefense Advisor will no longer overwrite the rule.

    Doubleclick ZoneAlarm Icon/Program Control/Programs
For best results configure the rule from Right to Left.

    Hope this helps,
