Default very slow startup of Windows XP SP3

I got a very long wait time ( 1-2 Minutes ) after booting and entering the win password for a user, before the win desktop appeared. In that time there were regular and short accesses to my disc. I'm using ZA security suite 7.0 with the newest true vector engine 7.0.483.000. Because i had the problem more than a year ago (on different hardware and ZA software level), i reinstalled ZA and everything is ok now.
I thing, the reason for the problem is, that i installed new drivers for my ESATA Jmicron controller a day before. After that, new devices were recognized and installed. With the next boot the wait time appeared always.
I opened a problem record for that behaviour, but i think it is an important information for the forum, especially the solution.

I have the same problem with Windows XP SP2. I am using the Jmicron jmb36x 1.17.41.1 driver.

I don't know exactly when this problem started to occur because I am not the only one using my computer but it is very annoying. I am going to reinstall Zone Alarm.

After I reinstalled Zone Alarm things are back to normal. It just takes a few seconds after I type the password to have all the icons and programs responsive.

I think it could have been the Microsoft updates as well that affected this. I will keep an eye on it.

Thank you for your Feedback..Installing MicroSoft Updates is a Well known problem .. (Most of the time the MS Updates install OK, but Occasionally the MS Updates Corrupt or Mess something up.. Before Updating any MicroSoft Updates, I always do a Full System Backup to an External HD with Acronis True Image just in case the Microsoft Updates Mess something up..I'm Glad the Re-Install worked OK for you..
