    Default general questions

    When I click on F1 I get " Help is unavailable". What is the solution for this problem?

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

    What happens when you click on the blue Help button, upper right?

    I get a dialog box telling me that Help is unavailable. I emailed support about it and they advised to download XML parser3 SP7. That did not work and it added at least 30 files of XML . I don't even know if they are needed I need it, but that another question.

    Two things to try at this point.

    Database reset:
    1) Ctrl + Shift right-click on ZoneAlarm System Tray icon

    2) Click Reset in popup box

    3) Click Yes in Reset Settings dialog box

    4) Click OK when prompted to reboot

    5) Follow onscreen prompts after reboot

    If the database reset doesn't work, do a clean uninstall followed by a reinstall:
    Download ZASS 7.0.483.0 from here:

    http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...483_000_en.exe
    1) Reboot into Safe Mode (repeatedly tap F8 as
    computer restarts)

    2) Append " /clean" (without quotes) to ZoneAlarm uninstall shortcut Target field

    New Target field: "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninst.exe" /clean

    3) Uninstall from shortcut;

    when ZoneAlarm requests a reboot, reboot into Safe Mode with Networking

    4) http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/b...message.id=103

    (begin after the 2nd *REBOOT in the webpage)

    5) Install ZoneAlarm in Safe Mode with or without Networking;

    when ZoneAlarm requests a reboot, reboot into Normal Mode

    This may not be as cool as F1, but there's nothing as a good User manual or User guide in pdf format, so long as you don't use Adobe to try to open it, as Adobe takes forever (I use Foxit).

    Anyway, you can download the WHOLE thing that's in the HELP file

    Open the C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\Help folder.
    Inside should be the "zaclients.chm".
    Double click this and enjoy.

    (you could create a shortcut for the ZA Help and place it on the desktop or in the All Users's Start Menu for easier access).

    I will do that . It seems for some reason it did not download from the disk. HammerNu suggested I reset it but it would erase all my settings and with my limited knowledge I am afraid that I would generate more problems . It still seems odd that the Help folder is empty while everything else works well. Thank you for your advice. I wish some security program would do everything for me (Norton did it years ago ) without my having to chose settings . I never know if I do the right thing . The more I try to learn the more confused I get as some settings may be a invitation for an invasion if "allowed" and if not I can't open some pages or download from some sites. Thanks again.

    Don't panic yet
    Make sure you have a clean copy of the ZASS installer in case is needed.
    Save your current settings. They can be restored.
    Save settings is on the Preferences tab.
    Then do the reset, which is the nearest thing to a new installation.
    Then restore all your settings back again from the Preferences file.
