Hi!the instructions are very similar for XP and VISTA, just use the search box (VISTA start) to type directly the commands..First remove ZA from control panel --> uninstall a program then (if or not fails) do the following in SAFE MODE:01.) Restart your computer
02.) When you see the screen go black and it starts booting back up keep
tapping the "F8" key (at the top of your keyboard)
03.) This should bring up a menu. Choose Safe Mode off the menu by
using the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Safe Mode and press
    Enter
04.) If you get a message asking to go to Safe Mode, choose Yes. If you
get a help and support window, close this.
05.) Once you are at the desktop, Click Start, My Computer
06.) Click Tools, Folder Options, View Tab
07.) Place a dot next to "Show Hidden Files and Folders"
08.) Remove the check from "Hide Protected Operating System Files
    (Recommended)"
09.) Choose Yes to the warning
    10.) Click OK
    11.) Double click C:

Note: In the future steps if you do not see any files or folders, please click
the "Show Files" link to view them.

12.) Double Click the Program Files Folder
13.) Right Click the Zone Labs Folder, click Delete, and choose Yes

NOTE: If you cannot delete the entire folder, please open the Zone Labs -
    > ZoneAlarm folder and delete out as many of the files listed here as
    possible.

    14.) Close this window
    15.) Click Start, My Computer
    16.) Double Click the C:
17.) Double Click the Windows Folder (It may also be WinNT)
18.) Right Click the Internet Logs Folder, click Delete, and choose Yes
19.) Double Click the System32 Folder

NOTE: If you cannot delete the entire folder, please open the Zone Labs
folder and delete out as many of the files listed here as possible.

    present:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\vsmon
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\vsdatant

*Important Advisory: Deleting registry entries incorrectly may cause
serious problems to your operating system, which may necessitate the
need to reinstall it. Please make sure you are able to perform these
deletions correctly before you decide to edit the entries. If you are not
sure, you should seek help from someone who is familiar with editing the
    registry.

For information about how to edit the registry in Windows, from your
desktop, click Start >> Run >> and type regedit. Click on Help >> Help
Topics. Under the Contents tab, click Change Keys and Values (this may
be found under the How to... section).

Also, you should always make a backup of the registry before editing it.
You can find this in the same section of the Help files.

25.) Close this window, then empty your recycle bin.
    26.) Restart the computer.

Hi, I tried followed these instructions on my Vista laptop and now I can't connect to the Internet.
Specically, I am getting the message that "Wireless Network Connection" is not correctly configured to use the IP protocol.
I actually tried these instructions on my desktop to and also couldn't connect to the Internet after following them, so I don't know if the problem is restricted to wireless.
On my desktop I just ended up doing a fresh Vista install, but I would rather avoid doing that again on my laptop.
Can you provide any assistance in fixing this?

    Thanks.

Well, it's happened on two different computers now.
So it appear likely there is something wrong with the instructions you provided, as I followed them to a T.
Obviously the answser is beyond you or you wouldn't have posted a silly non-response.

When I had trouble upgrading to ZA ver 8, Tech Support sent me these same instructions. I followed them precisely (twice in fact -- I used an image restore) and I also could not access the internet. I traced the issue down to removing the two registry entries vsmon and vsdatant.
I proved it to myself by playing toggle:First -- ensure that I have internet connection and then:
    1. Create a restore point, and remove the two registry entries2. Cannot access the internet3. Restore my restore point4. Access to the internet is OK again.5. Rinse and repeat.
I told Tech Support of my continuing problem, but as we know they only respond to questions when they have a boiler plate answer on file, so I can't upgrade to version 8. I am nervous about reverting to version 7 because they might stop supplying definition files for it..or something like that. I still have 5 or 6 months left on my license, but I guess that's just wasted now.
So, I am in the process of changing again.
Strangely, I am really leaning towards Norton Suite 2009...I have always disuaded friends from using Norton, but the feedback on this version..and my own 4 or 5 days experience suggests that they may have got it right at last!

I have to agree with the posters.
I have an expired trial of ZA Security suite installed.
When I deinstall it, I lose all wireless networking.

Furthermore, if I run the Vista SP1 upgrade (wirthout doing the ZA deinstall), it marks truevector incompatible with the upgrade and disables it - causing yet another complete loss of wireless networking.
In both cases, system rollback cleared it up - but I can't do the SP1 upgrade 'til the ZA folks figure this out.,
    Thanks,M.
