Default Firefox 3, ZAPro 8 conflicts, ditching ZA 8 and reinstalling ver 7.

I am running XP(SP2), ZA Pro 8.0.059.000, and Firefox 3.0.3. I regret updating ZA since it is causing my system to freeze when I am at certain websites. I am now having problems I never had with the previous ZA version (7). One example is Amazon.com. Any time I choose to look at an item, my browser freezes and I can regain control of my system only by unplugging my modem and hitting CTRL/ALT/DEL numerous times. Then a popup appears claiming TrueVector has experienced a problem and is shutting down.

I confirmed this is a ZoneAlarm error by shutting it down, opening Firefox and going back to Amazon. Everything loaded fast, I was able to move an item into my shopping cart and there were no problems or freezes.

I want rid my rig of ZA 8. I need to get my holiday shopping done. Since I have another 57 days to go on my subscription, I would like to confirm that I can uninstall version 8 and reinstall version 7.0.483.00, which was issued in July 2008. That version worked perfectly (yes, I have it saved in my applications folder). If not, then I guess I'll have to leave as a paying customer and use the free version.

Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
Software Version:8.0
Product Name:ZoneAlarm Pro

Hi!it should be enough to go to ZA privacy control and turn OFF cookies, adblocking and mobile control. This is the only feature that can conflict with web browsing. If after this you have still problems, try to reset the ZA settings:1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after rebootCheers,Fax

Thank you for your response. However, wouldn't doing so defeat one of the purposes of using the firewall in the first place? Lowering my security settings on security software so it will function properly is not what I'm paying for. Plus, my settings on version seven (cookie control and adblocking) caused no issues.

I will try the reset, but if that fails I'm going back to version 7 and will use the remaining days of my paid subscription to consider other options. Hopefully by then there will be a corrective update to version 8.

I reset ZA but didn't make the mistake of allowing ZA to automatically configure anything, opting for manual control - something I've always done with this software except when I thought, "why not?" when installing version 8. That was stupid of me.

I've regained access to Amazon without the system freeze by allowing web bugs, which I had disallowed in version 7 with no issues. Something isn't playing nice in v. 8 and I'm not at all fond of this "update."

Anyway, appreciate your responses. I'll just wait for the other shoe to drop...
