Default ZA Extreme Security and Java

I've just install the upgrade to Extreme Security and am now having a problem with Java on IE.
My bank web site allows me to deposit checks using Java and the scanner hooked up to my computer.
Previously I had no difficulty doing so.
Now, unless I turn off ZA, the scanner is not recognized.
Any assitance in adjusting the ZA settings to regain this functionality would be greatly appreciated.

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Software Version:8.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Extreme Security

2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after rebootHave you modified any default ZA Extreme settings after install?Cheers,Fax

Yes, I did the upgrade from ZA Suite Pro to Extreme Security - when I installed I chose the "clean install" option.
I was able to deposit several checks but then in the middle of the session it failed to find the scanner for the final check.
I have installed the latest version of Java (v12) and made sure that it has access to the internet zone with server permissions.
What else needs to be done?

I reset as suggested - now back in autolearn with original configuration settings.
Still get the message that IE/Java can not recognize/communicate with scanner.

Hi!We need to understand which part of ZAX is conflicting... so if you didn't touch the defaults. The only new element in ZA that could conflict with the hardware is the ForceField protection.Go to ZA brwoser security --> Settings --> Advanced --> Uncheck "Block Programs that secretely record your keystroke"Reboot the PC (in principle not needed but just to be sure), check that the setting has been correctly saved (i.e. the antikeylogger is OFF) and try again.Does it work now?Cheers,Fax

Looks like the keylogger protection is not the culprit - still unable to recognize the scanner.

Does the Scanner connect to the Computer via USB Port?
If so, (with ZoneAlarm running) Unplug the Scanner from the USB Port, and then Plug it back in.....
Also note that any Program Rules associated with the Scanner will need Internet Access.
    Navigate to:
    START/Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs/Set Program Access and Defaults/Custom/
    Under the Heading:
Choose a default virtual machine for Java:
    Enable the Radio Button:
Use my current virtual machine for Java
    Disable the Radio Button:
    Microsoft Virtual Machine
    Disable the Check Box:
    Enable access to this program

The scanner is connected via USB and does work with the software that comes with it.
However, it won't work with IE on this particular web site
(using Java) now that I have ZAX installed whereas it did before
    with ZASS.
    The settings you suggested
were already set in that fashion when I went to change them.

All of the JAVA programs have been given Internet, Trusted and Server access in ZASS.
