    Greetings,

    As subject says, upon update to latest build 8.x of ZA (can't provide the version right now) the Nortel VPN client (both 4.x and 6.x) no longer function.

    eg you get:
    Thu Mar 19 22:21:18 2009 | Isakmpd | F | Login Failure due to: Driver failure

    Exiting or disabling zone alarm from starting (as well true vector service) has no effect, uninstall of ZA fixes Nortel VPN.
    Nortel was functioning fine with 8.X ZA prior to latest update.

    Hi!not an expert on this but if it is like the CISCO VPN then you will need to:1. Remove ZA2. Remove any VPN software3. Install ZA4. Install VPNWith any ZA update you will need to remove the VPN and reinstall only after the update.Cheers,Fax

    I am in the same boat.
    I have called Zonealarm and here are their responses.
    The first response did not work and my work is not changing their VPN client.
    So....
    I completely uninstalled Zonealarm and my VPN works!
    I have tried uninstalling both reinstalling ZA then the VPN but that does not work either.
    This weekend I am going to try to uninstall both install ZA but turn off all "smart" defense options then load the VPN.
    If that does not work, I am going to try to find their last version on the website and download that.
    Let me know if anything else works!

    Solution

    There may be a problem with your TrueVector service. ZoneAlarm is
    dependent on its TrueVector service to function properly. You may need to
    refresh the files associated with this service, especially after a networking
    change, Windows OS change, or ZoneAlarm update.

    To repair this problem, please follow the steps below. Please note that this
    will remove your program permission settings (so you may want to make
    note of them), but re-establishing them is a simple process.

    1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
    2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
    3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
    4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
    5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
    6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after reboot

    I understand that your VPN is not working properly after updating ZoneAlarm.

    Please make sure that your VPN software is fully updated.
    Once this is completed, please reply ad let me know.

    Also, please click start -> all programs -> Windows update, and install all updates.

    Add me to the list.
    I upgraded to 8.0.298.000 and get the 'Driver Failure'error when trying to connect with the Nortel Contivity client.
    Being a long time ZA user, I have not had to re-installthe Contivity client with prior upgrades; except a fewyears ago when ZA resolved an intrinsic problem witha new release.
    I'd like to see a followup in this thread indicatingwhether uninstall/reinstall was successful andwhether this was just for the Contivity client orrequired reinstallation of ZA.

    OK, I uninstalled both ZA and VPN, reinstalled ZA, turned off auto learn and setup programs, put in my companies VPN address (which I have never had to do before).
    I then reinstalled the VPN tried to connect and still get the same &quot;driver failure&quot; error.
    Anyone know how I can get the release just before 8.0.298?
    I want to reinstall it and see if this corrects the situation.
    This has only started after the last update.

    without All the Details,without the ability to sit in front of your Computer monitor and see what's going on..
    there are 4 different Flavors of ZA 8.0.298, which one are you using?

    Please Right Click on the ZA Tray icon on the Lower Right and Click the "About" Option this will pop up a windows with all the Info about your Version Of ZA including the complete Version Number.. Click the "Copy to Clipboard" and Paste that information Here in the Forum by pressing the "CTRL-V" key..

    Sorry, it is the ZASS version.
    I would copy and paste it but I have already went back to ZASS version 8.0.059.
    Couldn't wait, had to connect to my company to work.
    Seems to work fine so far.
