Default ZA wants to check for updates - option is set to MANUAL

    Hi.
A few days ago i upgraded my german version ZoneAlarm Pro 8.0.108.000 to 8.0.298.004.
Upgrade went fine, everything is ok.
The only annoying thing with this latest version now is that ZoneAlarm always wants to check for updates once a day and asks me to send or to not send product data to zonealarm. But
the "check for updates"-option was and still is set to "manual". Setting the option to "automatic" and back to "manual" didnt help.
Is this some kind of known issue?

Hi!have you tried to reset the settings?1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after rebootCheers,Fax

I have the same problem with ZoneAlarm Free version 8.0.298.000.
I followed the reset instructions, but the problem remains.

I just updated with the latest version (as of 6/28/2009) and I
experience this undesirable behavior as well.
    I would hope that CheckPoint
    would fix
    this.
    Unfortunately,
it seems that it may be intentional,
since the ZA help info appears to indicate that the
    "manual update" setting
will allow ZA to check for and
    notify
    of new
    updates but not download them.

Hi I have the same problem.

Zonealarm is always trying to update, usually just when I am in the middle of playing an online game.
I have update set to manual.
It doesn't actually update, I think it just looks to see if there is an update.

    Can I turn this off?
I do not want any program accessing the net without me knowing, even if its just to see if an update is available.

    I use windows XP
    ZA vers 8.0.298.000

    Cheers
