Default My Last post (and the response) lost

    Fax,

My last post (yesterday) august 4 and your response about ZASS 8.0400.020 installation has been lost after the revamping of the forum reorganization and new look of the forum). Today (august, 5) I got a message saying that my last visit was on december 31, 1969 (?????).

Could you please re-send you answer?

    Hi!

this clearly indicates that there is driver or executable been loaded in normal mode that conflicts with ZA.
Have you tried to boot your system ONLY with ZA and MS OS services? Do you have any special customised skin software booting? Did you updated all your graphic, network, cards drivers to the latest version?

    Try this:

    1.) Click Start -> Run
2.) Type MSConfig in the run box and click OK
3.) Once in MSConfig, click the Startup Tab
4.) Remove the checks from everything except ZLClient
    5.) Click the Services Tab
6.) Place a check in "Hide All Microsoft Services"
7.) Now remove checks from everything other than TrueVector Internet
    Monitor, and click OK.
    8.) Restart your computer

    How does it work?

NOTE: You can place your computer back into a normal startup process by
going back into msconfig and choosing the Normal Startup option on the
    General tab.

    Cheers,

Unhappy Re: My Last post (and the response) lost

    Hi Fax

    It worked fairly awfully.

After my last post It seemed the trouble was heading to a solution but finally the complete system got almost destroyed. Windows XP keeps working but I do not have control over the configuation services utility (services.msc). For example, I cannot not start the Security Center Service and many other things. The back up utility does not work and, probably I am going to clean the system disk and reinstall Windows from scratch; a complete mess.

Many thanks for you help but this appears to be unsolvable and inexplicable.

    Thanks again

    ems.

    Hi!
sorry to hear your system has collapsed. Did you understood why? May be malware infections?
If you reinstall then be sure to:

    1. Install XP
    2. Activate windows firewall,
    3. Update XP with latest Service Pack (SP3) and all patches after that.
    4. Install any other software where you have original disks....
    5. Only after the above install ZASS, do not touch any default settings and remember to update it and have a full scan.

    Cheers,
    Fax

    Hi Fax,

Malware infections? I do not think so.

I have run "everything" to detect malware including a deep scan with mrt.exe by Microssoft (and others). If there is something it is absolutely stealthy.

I even uninstalled every security piece of software I had. Anyway, I have just discovered some remains of TrojanHunter (an isolated folder with some stuff left by the TH uninstaller)) which I uninstalled three years ago or so. I wonder whether this could interfere in some way but I doubt it.

I run regularly RegCure (paid) and CCleaner (Free) to keep the register neat.

    So let us see.

    Cheers ems

    Hi!
if you reinstall... try not to use any registry cleaners up to when you cannot avoid it... less you touch the registry better it is.

That registry editor seems to have not a good reputation..... Thanks to SlyFox for the link.
