    Default new laptop

I just got a new laptop with vista home premiun sp1. It came pre installed with Mcaffe 60 day free trial. Can I install Zone Alarm SS ver 8.0 with sp1 or upgrade vista to sp2 ? or what version can I use with vista sp1.
    Thanks for the help

    Hi!
the best is to remove Mcafee and then run their removal tool.
Then fully update to VISTA SP2 and all patches afterwards.
Finally install latest ZASS that you find here.

Watch-out that Lenovo, Acer, Toshiba laptop. Certain pplications may need to be removed or updated in order to install ZA. Search the forum if you have the above mentioned brands.

Btw, you already posted here: http://www.zaforums-stg.com/showthre...740#post222740
    And got detailed feedback.

Did you follow it at all??

    Cheers,

Question Re: [SOLVED -> ACER -> Update eDataSecurity before ZA] zass installation fails

Fax: I can not find 'Acer eDataSecurity' program in the list to unisntall. I found a driver on line 'Acer eDataSecurity' ver 2.8.4364 is that what you are talking about in this post? Should I just install that version.
    Thanks Robustiano

    Hello,
Please keep posting in your thread. Post moved.
If Acer 'eDataSecurity' is not installed then you don't need to install it.

    To sum-up

    1. Remove Mcafee as already indicated
    2. Update VISTA fully
    3. Install ZA as already described

    Thumbs up Re: new laptop

Hi, Fax: I got my installation of ZASS done this morning all went fine as far as installation no surprises, thanks for all your help. I do have one question. Iím running on a wireless home network with an additional 3 computers 1 desktop connected to Linksys wrt54g and 2 other wireless laptops. From the laptop with ZASS, I can see the network fine but from the other computers I cannot access the laptop with ZASS. What do I need to do? There are a lot of settings in ZA and Iím not sure what to do with them all any guidelines?
    Thanks again

    Hi!
to share resources within the LAN you have to set your network (something like 192.168.0.0/255.255.255....) to "TRUSTED" in the ZA firewall

The ZA firewall 'trusted' zone should be set to MEDIUM (default).

    This should be enough.
