Default How do I remove the ZA Toolbar from ZA Pro?

    Dear All,

Has anybody received the 'ZA detected stability problem' error message after installing the new version ZA Pro 9.0.083.000?

After an otherwise problem-free installation this is the only issue. It occurs when Firefox is started. It never happened with the previous version.

    I am running:
    - ZA Pro 9.0.083.000
    - Window$ XP Pro SP3
    - Avast Pro 4.8.1351
    - MBAM 1.40 (resident protection active)
    - Firefox 3.5.2

I would really appreciate if anybody had any tips, suggestions, comments or thoughts!

    Thanks in advance!

Default How do I remove the ZA Toolbar from ZA Pro?

    Dear Forum,

How do I remove the ZA Toolbar from Firefox?

I installed it accidentally when I upgraded to the latest version.

When I click on add-ons in Firefox, the 'uninstall' button is greyed out.

When I go to add/remove programs in Windows XP Pro SP3, only 'ZA Pro' is there.

I don't know what to do. So any help would be MUCH appreciated!

    Thanks

    Hi!
please do not open multiple threads of the same issues. You have already two.
As you know its important you report to ZA support the issue of the ZA toolbar.

    Hi Fax,

Thanks for the reply. I have reported the fault with the 'ZoneAlarm detected stability problem' box which appears. This has occurred at least 30 times since install.

Because I couldn't uninstall the toolbar manually, I uninstalled ZA Pro then rebooted. Then reinstalled ZA Pro and this time didn't select the 'install toolbar' option.

Could you answer these two questions please:

    1. Is Forcefield now completely uninstalled from my system? (A Window$ search turned up no file or folders named 'forcefield', I have also run Ccleaner).

    2. I notice my browser is still running a little slower than under the previous ZA Pro version. Can you offer any insight into this? (I have not installed or uninstalled any other programs).

Thanks Fax and I look forward to your reply!

PS: My setup is as follows:
    - ZA Pro 9.0.083.000 (without toolbar installed - I hope!) :-)
    - Window$ XP Pro SP3
    - Avast Pro 4.8.1351
    - MBAM 1.40 (resident protection active)
    - Firefox 3.5.2

Sorry, no idea on both points. Didn't even know that forcefield now is offered with ZAPRO.
The best is to follow-up with ZA support or count with other users here?

    Sorry.

    Hi Fax,

Thanks for the response. Perhaps it's not Forcefield itself. However it's a ZoneAlarm browser toolbar which looks remarkably like Forcefield.

My internet connection is running noticeably slower. Especially videos (eg. on Youtube) are not streaming as quickly as they used to.

I've disabled MBAM's resident module, Avast's Web Shield temporarily and used Ccleaner and Firefox's cache cleaner.

No luck. It seems to make no difference. This leads me to believe that ZoneAlarm Pro is the culprit.

Do you have any wise suggestions, comments or thoughts from your significant experience which may help?

    Thanks very much Fax :-)

No idea, sorry. First time I hear this and never had slowdown with forcefield, on the contrary, it has been designed to be completely neutral to the browser.

    Hi, ZA_avastfan;

Maybe the following ZAPro Feature list may help?

    ZoneAlarm Pro version 9.0.083.000
    • New Browser Security:
      • Advanced Download Protection:
        • Detects the latest zero-day threats in downloads that you initiate—before they reach your computer
        • Includes heuristic analysis and program check
        • Can run and analyze download behavior in a virtual environment if necessary
      • Spy site detection
      • Signature and heuristic phishing detection
      • Website safety check and rating

    • Program control features to stop advanced security bypass attacks:
      • Timing attack protection
      • Service control manager protection (not supported on 64-bit and Windows 7)

    • Other enhancements:
      • Many performance improvements
      • Reduced number of unnecessary alerts
      • Windows 7 ready (Free compatibility update to run on Windows 7 when it is released)

Note: To serve our customers who have a need for a streamlined high-end firewall product, especially to complement an existing anti-virus program, ZoneAlarm Pro firewall no longer includes the anti-spyware feature. To further streamline in an age where web privacy controls are built into the most popular browsers and email attachment scanning is included in the major email applications, privacy controls and inbound MailSafe have also been removed with this release
