    Default Unknown process, Malware?

I just got a notification from ZoneAlarm that the process SVVCHST32.EXE was trying to access the internet. I have never seen it before and a Google search revealed nothing. Anyone got any ideas??

    Hi wrgarrett,

Is it SVCHOST.EXE or SVVCHST32.EXE? The exact spelling is rather important.

If you did not get the spelling wrong, it is likely that you have been infected by malware. I do suggest you visit ONE of the following sites for help. Registration is necessary.

Thank you for your reply. I will check out each one.

Yes, it is spelled correctly. Checked and double checked because all three major search engines asked if I meant SVCHOST.EXE.

Also, I tried to report it to ZoneAlarm via email. The instructions on their web site said to send the file in a passworded zip file. I did and it was bounced.

Follow the instructions here to send the infection:
    http://www.zaforums-stg.com/showpost...00&postcount=2

Change the subject to Malware File.

Don't post your problem on all three forums though, just select one.

Ok, tech on chat told me to delete it. I did but I still don't know what it is or why it wanted to access the internet.

As I told you, it's probably malware.

Malware doesn't usually drop only a single file. You may want to consider a full diagnostic through one of the forums I posted; but it's your choice.
