Thumbs down Problems with ZA Internet Security Suite release 9.0.083.000

I installed ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite release 9.0.083.000 as an upgrade to V8.0.400.020 - on 3 PCs.
After completing the installations and configuring the application, all 3 PCs exhibited the same problems – inconsistency using certain websites – such as Hotmail – had to reload and reload the page for it to display correctly. If I shutdown ZA all these problems would disappear.
On one of my PCs I uninstalled ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite V9.0.083.000, restarted my system, reinstalled ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite V8.0.400.020, and was able to work/surf just fine.
Encouraged (though disappointed by ZA), I uninstalled ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite V9.0.083.000 from my laptop, restarted, and reinstalled ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite V8.0.400.020.
After restarting my laptop (as required by ZA) I got the ZA icon in the taskbar but the application never actually started/opened for me to be able to configure it.
When hovering (my mouse) over the ZA icon I get a message saying “Protection is up, UI is initializing”
I tried rebooting several times with the same results, uninstalled the application and reinstalled it, installed V9.0.083.000 again, tried cleaning the registry of all old installation ”leftovers”, deleted the ZA file under windows/system32 – and then reinstalled V8.0.400.020 – with the exact same results – the application will not start – any suggestions?

Thumbs up Re: Problems with ZA Internet Security Suite release 9.0.083.000

    After installing/uninstalling/reinstalling & finally uninstalling V8 & V9 several times - vsdatant.sys (299KB) file was missing from: C:\Windows\System32 \drivers\ folder.

I reinstalled zaSuiteSetup_80_400_020_en.exe, after answering the configuration questions, I was prompted to restart my laptop. I checked again and the - vsdatant.sys was still missing from C:\Windows\System32 \drivers\ folder. I copied it from the unzipped zaSuiteSetup_80_400_020_en.exe file to C:\Windows\System32 \drivers, and restarted my laptop. Make sure to copy the 299KB fle(there are 3 vsdatant.sys files with the same name)
    That fixed the problem.

Here is my two cents worth..

It look like your problem may be a problem with:

A.)some Malware or other Security Software installed that may be Blocking or Conflicting with the Install of ZoneAlarm..

B.) A Corrupted Download of both ZA 8 and ZA 9..

The simplest procedure is to :

1.Download the Latest installer preferably with IE Browser and do not use any Download Manager/accelerator like Get-Right, Livewire, Bit-Torrent) and save Download to your Hard drive.

(MultiPlatform, installer will install on Both WinXP SP3 and Vista)

    ZASS http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.html

    2. Before you Uninstall your current ZA, UNcheck "Load ZA... at startup" (under Overview - Preferences tab)

    3. Reboot the Computer. So that vsmon.exe/TrueVector will be removed from Memory

4.) Now use the new ZoneAlarm Removal Tool: Click here http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cpes_clean.exe

Save to desktop, right click and "run as administrator" This tool will remove all ZoneAlarm products from your system.

Please just download and run the tool, following the instructions. (you can un-install without net connections)

5.) Now Install the new update (clean) and Accept the default Setting, Auto-Learn Mode and Choose Trusted Zone, not Internet Zone..

NOTICE: Please note that ZASS and ZAXS do not play nice with many overlapping security tools (even if disabled).

To troubleshoot ZASS/ZAXS issues removethe other Security programs and re-install them once you see that ZA works as it should.

For example,Norton/Symantec, McAfee,AVG, Spyspweeper, Spyware Doctor, trojan hunter, adware, SpyBotSearch & Destroy, PC tools Threat Fire, any other Anti-virus, Anti-spyware, Registry Guard or locking tools, etc...

Please Post back with your Progress Report..
