    Default Extreme Security Firewall error

I purchased ZoneAlarm Extreme Security at the weekend and I have noticed a slight error with Windows Firewall. Action Centre is warning me that the Windows Firewall is switched off all the time (when it used to not show when I had a 3rd Party firewall installed). Any ideas on how to fix this?

    I am running:-

    ZoneAlarm Extreme Security
    Windows 7 Professional 64Bit

Under normal circumstances ZA firewalls will automatically shut-off Windows firewall - this is normal.

Just One, Not Two -- Never use two 'software firewalls' at the same time. Completely uninstall one before installing another (except for the default WindowsFirewall). Use the vendor's uninstall utility/ 'removal tool' or if not available use the Windows XP / Vista/ Windows 7 'add/remove' software tool in the control panel.
You can add/ use a 'hardware firewall' included in a Wired Router, Wireless Router or Broadband Gateway with your ZoneAlarm firewall.

Does Windows Security Center recognize ZoneAlarm?

Otherwise, Windows Firewall shut-off with ZoneAlarm running is normal and proper.

I used to use Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 until Friday (switched as it was too buggy) but Windows Security Centre used to recognise that and didn't throw up this "important security issue". I am assuming Windows Security Centre isn't detecting the ZoneAlarm Extreme Security's firewall as next to "turn on now" button next to windows security warning it has a link next to it that says "Get a different firewall program online".

Well it's good to reveal those background facts.

Question - have you used Kaspersky Removal Tool? If not, this may be a factor with the issue you have now. Leftover security software/ files can cause all sorts of issues, yes, with new installs.

You will have to find the Kaspersky Removal Tool and good point to use it.

Question - does Windows recognize ZA's anti-virus? which interestingly enough is Kaspersky av engine, too.

It's detecting the AV just not the firewall.

Kaspersky was removed correctly and a registry clean was run to make sure everything was cleared out of the registry.

Your windows security repository may be corrupted, try to Reset it.

    A) Shut-down ZA ...wait 2 minutes... restart ZA manually.

    4. Now install ZA again. You need to install while logged on as administrator.
