Default Hard Drive Encryption Removal Caused Windows Blue Screen of Death

    Hello,

I purchased Zone Alarm Extreme last week and installed the hard drive encryption, making an emergency boot disk on a USB drive. This week I found out that I needed to install a larger hard drive, so I started the decryption process, and when Windows shutdown was complete, my machine restarted and:

I logged into the Checkpoint Encryption initial screen,
    CMOS loaded,
    The Windows startup screen started,
After two bars went accross the screen,
I got a Windows blue error screen,
    And everything stopped.

I went through this 6 times with my USB emergency boot disk plugged in, and each time got the blue screen.

Does anyone have a suggestion about how to gain access to my data on this hard drive?

    David

    Update:

I learned that you must change your one time boot to the USB device, in order to utilize the emergency files and begin hard drive decryption at PC start up. This is not in the documentation.

After running for 48 hours, the decryption process shows 11% complete. At this rate, it will take another 18 days to reach 100%.

It only took 2 days to encrpyt my hard drive, and it ran in the background.

I am not too pleased with this process.
