    Default auto update and scan not working

    just upgraded to forcefieild and av and anti spy not auto updating
    or automatically running as entered. all boxes properly checked and i am able to manually update and scan. JUST NOT ON ITS OWN

    help please

    This Forum exist to help the Few Users who encounter a problem with ZoneAlarm and need to be guided in the right direction..


    It is Sometimes very Difficult to Diagnose and fix a Computer from halfway across the Country, without All the Details, without the ability to sit in front of your Computer monitor and see what's going on..


    1.) is it WinXP fully updated with microSoft SP3 and all later Critical updates? / Vist SP1 or SP2? / or Win7 ? What version?

    2.) does your WinXP computer meet the increased Minimum Memory/HD free space requirements to upgrade?


    3.) what Type of ZoneAlarm? (ZAAV?/ ZAPro? / ZASS? / ZAX? )

    I too have started having this problem. It started a week ago, on two different systems. One is running Vista with 3GB of memory, and the other is running XP with 512MB. They both updated and scanned per schedule until a week or two ago.

    Try this..

    ZA has incorparated a new way to Reset DataBase files so users don't need to go into Safe mode.


    To repair this problem, please follow the steps below.
    1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
    2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock in the system tray lower right corner
    3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
    4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
    5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
    6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after reboot

    ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Sites Database 03.980
    running windows xp pro
    lots of memory.
    still can only do manual updates no automatic updates

    Please Upgrade ZAES to the Current ZA Extreme Security 9.1.008.000

    Now Windows 7 32/64bit compatible
    Also compatible with XP 32bit and Vista 32/64bit
    ZoneAlarm Extreme Security (9.1.008.000)

    The simplest procedure is to :

    1.Download the Latest installer preferably with IE Browser and no Download Manager/accelerator like Get-Right, Livewire, Bit-Torrent) and save it to your Hard drive.

    (MultiPlatform, installer will install on Both WinXP SP3 and Vista and Windows7)

    2. Before you Uninstall your current ZA, UNcheck "Load ZA... at startup" (under Overview - Preferences tab)

    3. Reboot the Computer. So that vsmon.exe/TrueVector will be removed from Memory

    4.) Now use the new ZoneAlarm Removal Tool: Click here http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cpes_clean.exe

    Save to desktop, right click and "run as administrator" This tool will remove all ZoneAlarm products from your system.

    Please just download and run the tool, following the instructions. (you can un-install without net connections)

    5.) Now Install the new update (clean) and Accept the default Setting, Auto-Learn Mode and Choose Trusted Zone, not Internet Zone..

    NOTICE: Please note that ZASS and ZAXS do not play nice with many overlapping security tools (even if disabled).

    To troubleshoot ZASS/ZAXS issues removethe other Security programs and re-install them once you see that ZA works as it should.

    For example, the Following programs do not work well with ZoneAlarm, Norton/Symantec, McAfee,AVG, Spyspweeper, Spyware Doctor, trojan hunter, adware, SpyBotSearch & Destroy, PC tools Threat Fire, any other Anti-virus, Anti-spyware, Registry Guard or locking tools, etc...

    Please Post back with your Progress Report..

    thanks for all your help I followed your instructions now I have to wait to see if auto update and antivirus run tonite as scheduled
