    Default computor lock-up, ZA extreme

Since the last up-grade to Extreme Security,, on Vista, we have a growing problem when the system goes to sleep ( not being used ), it is locking out. The mouse works, but the screen saver is froze and all the keys are dead, which means having to crash out, and loose all unsaved work.
This happened once not long after the upgrade, but has slowly been getting more common, like once a day no0w. Talking to someone who had the same problem, they corrected it by removing Zone Alarm, there problem started after up-grade as well.

At the same time since we had this PC Tune-up add-on, the computor has been getting slower, the XP machine has almost stopped, and the thing just freezes when it does a defrag.

Are we or ZA going backwards again ?

Thumbs up Re: computor lock-up, ZA extreme

    Try this..

do a Clean Uninstall of ZA Extreme 8.0 and do a Clean Install of the Current ZA Extreme v9.0.114.000

It looks like your Have Corrupted your Installed ZA files The Best Fix for this problem is to Uninstall the Corrupte Version..

The simplest procedure is to :

1.Download the Latest installer preferably with IE Browser and no Download Manager/accelerator like Get-Right, Livewire, Bit-Torrent) and save it to your Hard drive.

(MultiPlatform, installer will install on Both WinXP SP3 and Vista)

    2. Before you Uninstall your current ZA, UNcheck "Load ZA... at startup" (under Overview - Preferences tab)

    3. Reboot the Computer. So that vsmon.exe/TrueVector will be removed from Memory

4.) Now use the new ZoneAlarm Removal Tool: Click here

Save to desktop, right click and "run as administrator" This tool will remove all ZoneAlarm products from your system.

Please just download and run the tool, following the instructions. (you can un-install without net connections)

5.) Now Install the new update (clean) and Accept the default Setting, Auto-Learn Mode and Choose Trusted Zone, not Internet Zone..

NOTICE: Please note that ZASS and ZAXS do not play nice with many overlapping security tools (even if disabled).

To troubleshoot ZASS/ZAXS issues removethe other Security programs and re-install them once you see that ZA works as it should.

For example,Norton/Symantec, McAfee,AVG, Spyspweeper, Spyware Doctor, trojan hunter, adware, SpyBotSearch & Destroy, PC tools Threat Fire, any other Anti-virus, Anti-spyware, Registry Guard or locking tools, etc...

Please Post back with your Progress Report..

Default Re: computor lock-up, ZA extreme, now new problem

ZA came up with a up-date, and auto installed V9, advised errors with V8, and touch wood all is OK.

The XP machine also did a up-date and that is better, even the tune-up works.

BUT we have a new one now.

ZA says all is ok, auto virus update is on, auto scan is on.

But Vista tells me the ZA has advised it that the firewall is turned off !!
Also, it is not doing update checks, or auto virus scans, but you can do one manually.

Also this problem appears to be on the XP machine also.
