    Question vetredir.dll & isafeif.dll not found

I have Zone Alarm Extreme Security installed on my computer running XP SP3. When using System Mechanic 7 error checking on the OS, I get two registry entry errors referring to missing shared dlls, vetredir.dll & isafeif.dll. WinASO Registry Optimiser also detects the same errors. Are these leftover references to a previous version of ZoneAlarm or has the software been compromised?

    Hi!
no, compromise.... its by design. ZA at install will create these entries.
Report the issue to ZA support. I did many times but no fix yet.

Be careful with those cleaning tools. They are more damaging than resolving issues. Less you touch the registry, better it is.

Thumbs up Re: vetredir.dll & isafeif.dll not found

Thanks for reply, Guru. I do vet each error prior to repair so as not to delete anything critical and only do a clean up when necessary. This computer is an old x64 2.41 Ghz AMD single core on a Gigabyte K8NS Mobo with 1.5 Gb DDR RAM. Gets a little slow after a while. Thanks again for the heads-up on the error messages.

In the event you use CCleaner.I would suggest to untick Missing Shared DLLs in Registry Intregrity.I would only enable when doing clean uninstall of ZoneAlarm.

SmartDefense Advisor will flag CCleaner with pop up.ZoneAlarm Security Suite has blocked CCleaner from deleting a value in the registry.

I looked under Alerts & Logs / Log Viewer.Alert type / OSFirewall. to confirm.High Rating.

I did a Reset and did not restore old settings. Then untick Missing Shared DLLs in Registry Intregrity. It will not flag you now when you run the Registry component of CCleaner.

    Have a nice Day.

    ZoneAlarm Security Suite version:9.1.008.000
    TrueVector version:9.1.008.000
    Driver version:9.1.008.000
    Anti-virus engine version:8.0.2.42
    Anti-virus signature DAT file version:995985056
    AntiSpam version:6.0.0.2383

This issue can be resolved by running ccleaner, or similar in safe mode or by creating 'dummy' vetredir.dll & isafeif.dll files. This you can do by opening up a text editor and saving blank documents as each of those names. These dummy dlls can be copied into Windows/system32/ZoneLabs when in safe mode.

    Interesting solution!
An additional alternative is to update to windows 7. They are not there in the new OS

ZA support tells me that these are older ZoneAlarm files that are no longer used by the ZoneAlarm software. However they are refusing to be deleted.

If you really must,You can run CCleaner in Safe Mode.In Registry tab run Scan for Issues and then click Fix selected Issues. It will delete them.I would backup when ask to a folder of your choosing. If you ever want to restore them just right click and select Merge.

    Have a nice Day
