    Unhappy Unable to connect to update server

    Hi,

    This morning after I booted my PC I attempted to update AV/AS definitions using the Update Now button on the AV/AS Main page as I usually do.

    I recieved an Unable to connect to update server error, and my last successful update is shown as 21:33 the previous day. Repeated attempts end with the same error.

    Performed a scan using ZA which came back clear. Cleared temp files out using CCleaner and tried to update again...Same result. Ran Malwarebytes with latest definitions...Came back clear.

    Does anyone know whether there is currently any problem connecting to ZA servers?

    As I'm not sure, and it may be an infection at my end, I'll continue to troubleshoot here and post back any outcomes, but would appreciate any help.

    UPDATE: Having no success in connecting after a re-boot, I tried restoring ZA settings which I saved yesterday. The settings restored OK but still had no joy trying to connect to ZA update servers. I have seen threads on the forum which advise resetting the ZA database (hold down ctrl and shift, and right click ZA icon, etc.) but I'm not sure what that'll do to my program permissions. I'm still in auto-learn mode following installation of version 9.1 four or five days ago and so it may not be a problem to lose program settings.

    Is there a guru who could advise please?

    I too am having the same problem. First both my husband's PC (Vista) and my laptop (XP SP3) stopped automatically running the AV scans and updates. I manually downloaded the newest ZAX, did a clean install and still the automatic features did not work and I still couldn't connect to the update server. I found a thread and followed the instructions to reset ZAX which worked for the automatic scans but not for updating. Now I keep getting a pop up message saying ZAX needs a signature download. When I try to download, I still am getting the "unable to connect to update server". Apparently I haven't had a successful download since 10-24-09 because of not automatically running. (I did a manual download then.) Any help would be appreciated!

    Question Re: Unable to get updates for anti-virus

    I have a 6GB , 64-bit OS, Intel Core 2 Quad HP using Windows Vista.
    I am using ZASS 8.0.400.020.

    I have tried unsuccessfully to upload any ZASS updates from the site.
    I also have not been able to have any success using the "Update" button in ZASS for any software updates nor anti-virus updates. After several tries this morning, for some unknow reason the Anti-spyware finally states it updated.

    I tried to download the ZASS update, it states it loaded successfully, but it does not show up in properties or anywhere else indicating that it loaded.

    I tried loading from both IE 8 and Firefox.

    Any suggestions?

    I to am unable to update ZA antivirus manually and the last update was 10/31 @ 6:31am :

    The mesage i get is Anti Virus error: Unable to connect.

    Any ideas what I may do to correct this?

    This was the last DAT file version:996062240 updated last night.Tried to update today at 8:00 am CST.Confirm same error message.

    Error : Unable to connect to update server

    My system is clean of malware.Did Reset, but didn't resolve issue.

    When into Save Mode with Networking and tried to update but same issue.Tried update Malwarebytes in Safe Mode with Networking.Updates ok.Must be ZA A/V server issue.

    Happening as described above on my machine Win XP sp3 with all updates. Did a complete reset of Zone Alarm. Still will not access the server for an update.

    There may be a Temporary problem with the servers..

    Live chat with Tech support is off-line now..

    Hi George V,

    I have contacted customer support and they say to try AV/AS updates again in a few hours. They seem to know a problem exists with the servers but didn't divulge any more information so perhaps they don't know why it's kaput. Didn't get a great deal of information otherwise.
