I had ZA on this PC for years. When new version pops up I install and keep going. Neverever had any problems.
    (always free ZA)
currently version 8.0.298.000 and... I'll try to post a pic.. how do you post a pic here?

    1- Try this...reset database...

1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after reboot

    2- Properly un-install and then re-install

    - Remove leftover/ incomplete/ corrupted ZA install by...

    A) For XP/ 2000 users - Click here > I cannot find or run the ZoneAlarm uninstall program (XP/2000)

    B) Try ZA Removal Tool - XP/ 2000/ Vista - click here > http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cpes_clean.exe

    C) For Vista users - Click here > I cannot find or run the ZoneAlarm uninstall program (Vista)

One important tip: You can try this: just prior to new downloading attempt, on your current/ old ZoneAlarm firewall > Overview> Preferences > General -> Uncheck the box for > 'Load ZoneAlarm at startup' > click once, wait - it may take a few
seconds for it to register, but it will clear the box
    Please restart/ reboot.

    (this helps prevents some 'true vector / vsmon.exe' issues - "needs to be shut-down...") when upgrading/ downgrading/ installing/ un-installing.

When you re-install: better to use IE 7/8 instead of firefox, etc., don't use download managers or web accelerators(dial-up), other security software may shut-off or lower any 'real time protection - guards/ shields, etc'
