Default [SOLVED] Always same network found as "New" network

    Hi,
since I updated to ZAP 9.0.114.00 I get the same dialog box on system start-up telling me that ZA found a new network and asking me to allow it to trusted or internet zone. The IP shown is always the same. Its 192.168.178.0 / 255.255.255.0, which is the network of my router. The Router is connected via wireless to my computer (XPSP3). The router is set to DHCP, but as my PC is the only PC in the network I always get 192.168.178.22 as my IP address.
I assign this "new" network to the trusted zone (I leave the default name). On next system start (or connection repair) I get the same message again.

Why does ZA not remember my setting next time? How come it thinks this is a new network?

I did a clean install several times - no change.

I tried to configure automatic assignment to trusted as well as internet zone (firewall-main-advanced) but regardless of my settings it is always asking me.

Once I have assigned the network, everything runs fine. Only on then next system start I get the same question again.

    Anybody an idea?

    Hi!
I think its a known issue, to be fixed with the next release due in December or January. Is the connection managed by a third party software (e.g. software included in the wireless card or OEM PC) or it is managed directly by your OS (XP, VISTA)?

ZA should have no problem for the latter case.

    Hello Fax,
    thanks for the info.
The connection is managed by a third party software (ASUS WIFI AP Solo). I had a look at the manual after your post and it offers an option to switch to Windows Zero Configuration.
Will try that and tell how it worked out.

    It worked!
I set the ZA configuration (Firewall - Main - Advanced) back to ask every time it finds a new connection. I gave my wirelss network a unique name in the zones dialog to be able to identify it in case ZA was asking me again.

Then I switched my WLAN app to Windows Zero configuration, Windows detected a new network, the configuration dialog came up (I had to find my WLAN network key in my documents :-) and bang I had the connection back.

Did a reboot and ZA did not find a new network.

I checked my zones in ZA (Firewall - Zones) and found my wireless network with the nam given befor the switch alreday (still) there.

Thanks for the great help Fax.
