Default Internet Explorer Not Asking for Permission to Access Internet

Since my last update Internet Explorer is not asking for permission to access the internet eventhough I have it set to a "?"

Also, I wonder what else is accessing but not asking for permission.

    Please help,
    Thank you,

All microsoft trusted applications unless you UNcheck "Enable Microsoft Catalog Utilization" in ZA program control (custom button).
Press F1 at ZA main control panel window to get an online help on the new ZA feature in version 9.

    Don't know... probably not.

Two essential conditions to get warned about trusted MS processes:

    1. ZA program control should be set to MAX and NOT Autolearn
    2. Enable Microsoft Catalog Utilization should be unchecked

As always, Fax you are quick and precise.

    My ZoneAlarm is set to:

    1. ZA program control should be set to MAX and NOT Autolearn
    2. Enable Microsoft Catalog Utilization should be unchecked

Tell me, Host Process does not need Server access right?

    Thank you,

Well well... here we enter in a very subjective area. ZA automatically configures programs to combine security and usability. Settings may vary according to the system used. So I cannot really tell you. If you want to customise the settings please do so... but be ready to troubleshoot problems in a day or a month. You will most likely find it hard to connect back the issue to the ZA program changes

    BLOCK SERVERS

You can allow access to only your ISP's servers (such as DNS or DHCP) by
adding them to your Trusted Zone, and Unchecking the Block Local Servers
box. Other servers on the Internet will still be blocked with the Block
Internet Servers box checked. NOTE - If you do not have your ISP's server
in your Trusted Zone, and you have the Block Internet Servers box
checked, you will not be able to renew your DHCP or access DNS, causing
you to lose your connection and have no access.

NOTE: Some of these servers may use your Services and Controller App
(services.exe, or svchost.exe). You should see these applications as
blocked in your alerts log. In these cases, you will need to give these
applications access or server rights from the Programs panel. The most
    secure way to do this:

    - Add the server's IP address to your Trusted Zone. You can find this out
from the window in ALERTS & LOGS -> LOG VIEWER, or from the logs
themselves (ZAlogs.txt), and can be verified through your ISP.
    - In the PROGRAM CONTROL -> PROGRAMS window, LEFT-click under the
TRUSTED column of the program, then click ALLOW
    - Follow the same procedures to BLOCK the Internet column of the
program (so that a red X appears).

As long as you do not have Block Local Servers checked, this should be
sufficient. You may need to do this for other applications that use Services
and Controller App -- just add the IP address of the server you are using
    for that application.

    Have a nice Day
