    Default Privacy issues, browser slowdowns

I am using a registered copy of ZoneAlarm Security Suite version:9.1.008.000, Win XP, sp3.

I am having slow browser problems. At first I thought my ISP was having problems but I doubt that now because it's been for a couple of weeks.

I am convinced it's forcefield because when I go to a website I can see it go to other intermediary websites first on the bottom left url indicator. Maybe that always happens but the browser used to be so fast I didn't notice. At any rate that worries me.

I disabled all web protection by clicking Settings/advanced but it didn't change a thing. I'm not sure forcefield turned off by doing this.

Same problem in both IE and Firefox so it's not browser dependent.

If forcefield is monitoring everything coming to me, is it safe to assume that they monitor everything I do on the web? If so isn't that a serious privacy problem?

One more question: If I reinstall ZA without the toolbar does that prevent forcefield from installing?

I'm starting to think that forcefield is one extra problem I don't need.

Are you making reference to ForceField (standalone) or ZoneAlarm Security Toolbar.

If the ZoneAlarm Security Toolbar is what you are making reference you can uninstall and read carefully before installing.Next time when reinstalling 9.1 Uncheck / Disable as not to install ZoneAlarm Security Toolbar.

I'm referring to Zone Alarm toolbar. So, does anybody know why it slows down browsers so much?

I tested my DSL and it's running at 1.5M, so it's not my connection.

It is Sometimes very Difficult to Diagnose and fix a Computer from halfway across the Country,
without All the Details, without the ability to sit in front of your Computer monitor and see what's going on..

Whenever posting here- it is always advisable to list your:OS (XP SP 2-3 / Vista SP1-2 / Windows 7), your zonealarm product and it's version number .

The installation on my laptop is similar to yours - WinXP Pro SP3, IE8, ZASS installed with the ZA Toolbar (FF) and I do not experience browser slowdowns.

The ZA Toolbar (FF) is selected by default (checkbox) when you install ZASS. The ZA Toolbar is not the same as the standalone version of ForceField.

The ZA Toolbar has its own entry in Windows Add/Remove Programs (Control Panel) and can be uninstalled from there, or, you can completely uninstall ZASS which will uninstall the ZA Toolbar with it and then reinstall ZASS and uncheck the Toolbar option when you reinstall.

Thanks for pointing that out.One question, I use the standalone version of ForceField 1.5.53.49

What is the version number for the limited ZoneAlarm Toolbar.

I have concluded that the forcefield in the zone alarm toolbar is a terrible piece of software. I removed it per these instructions and now my browser is running normally.

It's a hassle doing a total reinstall but it's a whole lot better than trying to solve ZA's problems. They should dump this app because this is going to taint ZA's reputation.

I use ForceField Version 1.5.53.49 (standalone) and can unininstall by going to Start / All Programs / ZoneAlarm ForceField and running the uninstaller.

If it's in Windows Add/Remove Programs (Control Panel) it sure can be uninstall that way.I have removed it that way also.

So I would think the limited ZoneAlarm Toolbar is in Windows Add/Remove Programs (Control Panel) it can be uninstall that way to.

Hopefully not . Its the best security innovation in ZA since years and works very well (here). Must be conflicting with some other applications at your end.
