    Default Anit-Virus Update

    I am starting this thread because I think ZoneAlarm needs to know that some users are still having problems with the anti-virus update.

    Please add to this thread if you still get the error "unable to connect to the update server"

    I was pretty much told by technical support that ZoneAlarm fixed the problem and that if the problem still exists, it is my computer. There solution was to try a Beta versions that expires in 60 days or downgrade.

    I think these options are not good enough.

    ZoneAlarm Security Suite version:9.1.008.000
    TrueVector version:9.1.008.000
    Driver version:9.1.008.000
    Anti-virus engine version:8.0.2.42
    Anti-virus signature DAT file version:993925376
    AntiSpam version:6.0.0.2383

    For the record or whatever this is, I too, have not been able to update my antivirus/antispam DAT files and have had no luck with any of the suggestions offered by support. My current versions are as follows:

    ZoneAlarm Security Suite version:9.1.008.000
    TrueVector version:9.1.008.000
    Driver version:9.1.008.000
    Anti-virus engine version:8.0.2.42
    Anti-virus signature DAT file version:993931520
    AntiSpam version:6.0.0.2385

    Advanced Options reports the "Last Update Completed" 11/8/2009 12:27 AM

    I am running Window7 64bit which I upgraded from Windows Vista 64bit

    Hello,

    Our Av update servers are up and running 100% and have been for a good long time now.

    If there were issues then ALL of our AV user base (over one million users) would be contacting us and that s not the case.

    These issue your experinceing are known as one off issues and are isolated to your PC's setup, network environment, or ISP.

    To further troubleshoot the issue is to try our current beta.

    The beta has a new backup AV server platform feature it can fall over too when failures happen.

    So you need to try the beta and if you still have issues you should file a beta feedback submission (not a post on the forum) and that feedback goes directly to development.

    You should do this in the next day or two because there not much time for the beta build before it becomes a public release.

    I did just that, tried the beta version, and same error, unable to connect to the update server.

    I have been trying to resolve this for a month or so to no avail. I think it is a poor excuse to say that since you cannot solve a problem, it is your computer and not the software.

    Also, what is wrong for asking others to help when the software provider cannot?

    The Forum Moderator Adised that you Try the BETA and REPORT BACK Directly to the BETA Developers..

    If indeed you have tried BETA 9.1.045 and still have the same problem,
    then this is the opertunity to report the details of your problem along with details of your computer configuration etc. DIRECTLY to the Software Developers using the BETA FEEDBACK Form provided..

    Then and ONLY then can the Developers Review your Log Files and details of your particular Computer configuration and possibly Resolve the Conflict involving your particular Computer..

    It is Un-likely that the User here in this Forum have your particular problem or Computer Configuration..

    Example, I have ZA 9.1.008.000 installed on several of my Coomputers with no Problems with Updates..

    I also have ZAES BETA 9.1.045.000 installed on one of my Vista Computers with no probems..

    PLEASE Report the details opf your Problems directly using the BETA FEEDBACK FORM available on the BETA Download page..

    I have not been able to update my antivirus DAT file for a month. I've uninstalled ZoneAlarm and reinstalled it, done a complete reset and have insured that certain register values were correct. I still get the error - Error:Unable to connect to the update server DOES ANYBODY HAVE A FIX FOR THIS?

    I would suggest a Reset of your ZA Database.

    The database could be corrupt.Try resetting this way.

    1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
    2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
    3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
    4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
    5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
    6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after reboot

    Do not restore old settings.You could reintroduce corruption.

    What process are you following for uninstalling? Are you just using ADD/REMOVE to uninstall? what operating system? running any other security software? what?
